Underseat powered sub

what do you guys think? my main thing is that i want it in the front with me to help against the rattling. anyone know of any others?????

i measured the kenwood and it will fit out onto the floor of the back seat and kinda under the front seat. the jvc will fit good right under the front seat.

Alright then uh Id suggest doing a trunk setup for that budget. Take an hour and glue down the rear deck child things that flap, and put ductape in the trunk on things that rattle above, problem solved.

Both of those subs are the worst, but i think all the rattling is coming from the the speakers in the back deck.

I say, open the whole in the door for the stock speakers a bit and put a 8" pioneer slim fit in each door, then find a place for the 6.5" in the door. and your good to go. (or make some Kick panels for the 6.5's. )

glue and duct tape will not solve the problems of rattles, the biggest offensive noise in our balts is the rear deck vibrating against the base of the rear window, i tried several ways to eliminat this, from high density foam wedges to keep it "secure" against the window, to zip ties to hold the whole thing down in the back, nothing seemed to work, so i ganked the rear deck, re-routed some wires, and carpeted the rear deck and put in aftermarket speakers, doesnt look bad at all and the only rattles left are the rear-view mirror and the trunk hatch

i have a DIY on another site if anyone is interested, pm me

simple yet costly fix for the rattling... DYNAMAT!!.. i spent about 225 on 2 boxes of it lined my entire truck (i dont have my spare in) my entire underside of my trunk and the rear deck where the rear speakers are under the carpet.. an i have just enough to put in the doors for when i get my nfinity 450watt mids and highs !

I don't know how often you have people in your back seats but the infinity all in one system would probably be a little bit of an upgrade from either of those two, but they will not fit under the seat. you would probably have to put them behind the seats wich if you have people in the back seat ever that will not work. anyways here is the infinity self contained systems...

bass link

BassLink II

Bass link X

These will probably be your best bet for a self contained system for around the price you said. I know what the retail price for these says but you will be able to find them a bit cheaper than what is quoted here.

For those people complaining about the back deck rattle: If you can weld or if you know some where you can get something welded. Wrap all of your wiring that runs under the back deck and a good roll of wiring tape. Take a thin piece of metal and leave yourself about a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch gap between the deck and your thin piece of metal. Put some wooded spacers in there if you want to and weld it to the bottom of the back deck (you want to cut yourself some holes for your 6x9's to drop through. then you want to seal them off by welding metal to the ring sealing the gap left). Drill some small holes maybe a foot to a half a foot apart in the sheet of metal. Then take some expanding foam (GREAT STUFF expanding foam is some great stuff) and fill in that gap between the deck and metal. If it was all sealed up nice and tight it is like you have a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch piece of metal for your back deck and it will absorb the sound waves and be braced more to keep out the rattles.

I have seen similar things to this used on sound quality comp car setups. It is fairly cheap compared to getting 2 or 3 lairs of dynamat (or a comparable product) on the back deck.

the BassLink and BassLink II are great little self powered subs, I have one in my cobalt along with a Small Alpine 4 channel ammp under the passenger seat and the car sounds great. I ran soem dynamat on the top of the rear deck (under the carpet) and have good bass and good all around sound. I have a Infinity BassLink a Clarion Head Unit and Infinity 6.5's and 6x9's in that car. The 4 channel is the Small Alpine 4 channel. (I searched long and hard for something that would fit in the gap under the seat.) Now there are a lot of other choices though.

It's plenty loud and takes up very little room. Let me find the thread from before...

i don't think that those litte underseat subs are all that bad... they don't shake the neighborhood like having 2 12s in the back or anything, but they give a nice little punch under your butt.

it depends on what you want.

if your determined to have one of those i would go with the kenwood, in low power applications a passive radiator can work quite well, but i would get 2 of em, 1 for under each seat for balance

I was thinking of buying 2 12" Pioneer TS-SW3041D subs and building boxes that fit right behind the front seats. I installed 2 8" JBLs behind the seat of my Corsica. I also installed 2 infinity perfect 12" subs behind the front seats of my Elantra.
