well not all the wires in the stock harness will be used so thats fine

thats pretty odd thou... go thru and test voltage at the cd player end and make sure ur getting 12-14v on both constant and acc. The only other thing it might be is a blown fuse if the wires touched at some point. otherwise if the fuse on the radio is blown but that shouldn't be the case on a new radio

Ok, so after trying out a few fuses, the AMP fuse and power steering fuse seemed to have helped. But now, it doesn't stay on when I turn the accessory switch on (which turns off the radio when I open the driver's door). I'm planning on stopping by ABC Warehouse tomorrow morning and talking the auto guy there.

Nope. Everything's manual. I still haven't found a suitable fuse spot for the cd deck.

Tried to hook it up to a wiper fuse in the floor panel....nothing. But you're definitely helping out Emperor. Getting a lot further thanks to you.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't causing harm. In this case..I dont think it is. One last question if you dont mind though

The radio has to use the RCA's, so the harness doesn't use the individual speaker wires (2 for all 4 speakers). However..when I have the harness connected to the RCA of the radio..it is only playing through 2 speakers..not all the speakers..any ideas?

the gmos 04. Its the avic d-3 harness (that connects to the stereo) that only has 2 RCA"s though. A Red and White Input, then ouput, rear view camera. THere isn't a way to hook up 4 rcas. It only has a place for 2.

the gmos 04 has 4 rcas for all 4 speakers..its the RCA input for the stereo that only has 2.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the gmos and gmos 04 is the onstar. The rest of the pins seem to be the same.

Ya I don't think I was getting the acc power cuz I jumped it to the fuse box and tapped into a fuse, then it worked fine. Now however I have a lot bigger problems because the car won't start. At first the security light was on every time I tried to start it, then the whole thing went into lockdown and I can't even turn the key or steering wheel or anything!!!!!

ok unplug the harness and the fuse tap and see what happens. If you tapped an acc wire AND hooked it up to the module then it probably pissed off the bcm. hopefully undoing it will fix the problem

I hooked up the acc wire directly to the head unit i was installing. I undid everything back to stock put its still locked up. Its sitting at the dealer waiting to get checked out. Is there no acc power in the factory harness? its a 06 ss/sc

unless it was a problem with ur security system and it just happened to do it now. the passlock 3 system wont let you do **** if its pissed off. the dealer had my car in lockdown when they were fixing it from the wreck. idk how they fixed it thou all i told them is it drove for 15 seconds after the tow truck dropped it off so figure it out

correct the acc is actually gm lan data.... so it doesnt turn on with a voltage on or off but with a decoded data signal. i did it for less than 24hours for a car show and because i didnt know what i was doing but i hooked up the gm lan to actually acc and the car didn't like it but i was able to drive to the show play the bass and drive home.

Interesting. Someone told me to unhook the battery before I take the stock hu out so i guess I will try that next time and hopefully it won't lock up.... But ya your rite it could've been coincidence. So that is pretty much the only way to power the aftermarket deck then is do the fuse tap?

yes and no. the module is supposed to decode the gm lan data and make the acc. but in all reality even metra who makes the best ones out there have problems. there's really only so much u can do with the market and given resources. the fusetap is a ghetto way of doing it but in reality if u get something like the "add a fuse" and find a fuse that works its more reliable then the module. hence why im glad i have an 06. in an 06 the only benefit of a module is rcas if u have the pioneer system (but that can be done without the module too) and acc without the fuse tap.

you don't need to unhook the battery before u take the stock hu out that's a load of crap.

Okay guys I read the FAQ but still not quite sure what the guy at car audio was trying to tell me.. I'm installing an Alpine CDA 9887 in an 07 LT I saw two antennas to choose from how do I know which one? Also, he said something about a $95 wiring harness is this post telling me that it is NOT necessary to maintain all factory functions or do I need to get it? And what about an aftermarket single din mounting kit, which one fits the best? Hate to ask any retorical questions I'm just ready to get this **** installed!

u need the crysler antenna adapter.

the wiring harness is going to be 100+ if you want to retain all factory functions. the cheap one u loose chimes onstar and possibly rap depending on the car. you also loose steering wheel controls unless u buy a separate adapter... these can be added regardless of wiring harness

metra dash kits fit and look the best then ai then scoshe (imo... normally scoshe is better then ai but not on the balt kits I've seen) best kits is bullshit b stock

06 ss/sc. Metra harness. Valor hu single din with flip up touchscreen.
Problem is the hu only powers on when the car is started and it doesn't turn off at all, can't control the volume, and it doesn't take cd's.
0.o any idears?

volume control and cd problem is a busted stereo. those units are notorious for those exact problems. as far as the hu powering on only when the car is started that sounds about right. not sure why it wouldnt turn off thou. wiring issue maybe?
