personally id say replace the front speakers first but it really depends on what ur looking for. Most of ur sound comes from up front and most people will say the goal of a car audio system is to reproduce the sound of a concert or live production (u don't sit at a concert backwards do u?) But the 6X9s are an important speaker if your not adding a sub anytime soon. The physical size of the 6X9 makes them handle lower freqs better then your front speakers even thou any audiophile will say to stay away from oval speakers.

So if ur looking to gain a bit of bass swap the rears... if u just want better sound swap the fronts.

If you have the Pioneer system and you don't plan on adding any subs to the equation then I would say just swap them out. Adding an aftermarket amp to the front speakers can be a pain in the ass. I think the stock amp puts out 40-50 watts @2ohms but the stock speakers are crap (even the pionneer ones) A set of 2 ohm fronts and rears (6.5 or 5.25) brings the sound quality up a bit. This is why I went with the Infinity's in the first place, they were decent speakers and were made to run at 2 ohms .

If you don't have the Pioneer system them add an amp and speakers, that however is just my opinion. Some may disagree, it all depends on how you like to listen to your music.

Hows that headlight retrofit coming along. I'm interested to see the finished product

okay cool
Good thing I asked, I was going to do the 6x9's first,
but I already have a 12" sub in my car
So looks like I'll invest in some 6.5"s
