Upgrade my sub in stock enclosure

I'd like to upgrade my sub but keep the same enclosure for space reasons.

If I could get some recommendations on the sub and amps and any other equipment I might need to replace the stock sub I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Look at the kicker cvt10-2 or RF p3sd410 for something with more spl and do the polk mm1040 for more sq. All priced about the same and should fit.

As far as amps try a kicker 10zx300.1 or soundstream rub1.400. Both inexpensive and nice amps that will power any three of those subs.

Dont forget about your amp wiring and if you have a stock radio your gonna need a line output convert (loc)

Speaking of the stock sub, I was told if you disconnect it that the rest of the audio system wont work. Is this true?

is there a website you would recommend buying from ?

What are the differences between these subs?

http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-AA3...8341410&sr=8-2

http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosga...1&sr=8-1-fkmr1

Thanks again for your help

How about this guy's write up and install instead of using a LOC?

Is there a How-To and pictures on this procedure as I've never done a stereo equipment install before

swapping your stock sub out for another 10" and a aftermarket amp on the stock head unit

did a ton of searching and only found the one that doesn't use the LOC

any help would be appreciated

I have a shallow 10 inch Memphis sub in the factory box running off a 400 Watt RMS rockford amp and it sounds great. Hits nice and hard and clear.

Yea i did have to cut the box some to get the speaker basket to fit in.
I just cut it with a sabre saw. You can also use a Dremel tool.

Here is the box ready for the sub after i cut the notches.
The sub model is 15-SC10S4

I paid $270 for it from a local stereo shop.
Be advised there is no authorized internet dealer's for Memphis. So if you find it online it will not have a warranty.

Here it is with the sub installed.

LOC and amp wiring kit is all you need. Power is easy since the battery is in the trunk.
The LOC your just need to tap into the rear speakers from in the trunk.
For a remote turn on for the amp i used a fuse tap in the sunroof fuse.
Even if you don't have a sunroof it still only has power when the key is on.

The amp I bought used off craigslist by someone local that was selling it.
I have the amp mounted to the back of the seat.
I'll get a pic tomorrow of how I mounted it. I'm at work now and the balt is at home.
