using ipod with 2005 SS

Hey guys, I just bought an Ipod and I am sure I read somewhere on this site that there was someway to use it with the oem radio via a cable....i think! I tried searching but only came up with the thread that shows you how to get an 07 radio to work......anyways, any help would be awesome! Thanks

i think it's only the 07's that you can do that with.

you can always use an FM modulator for your ipod, or switch your radio out for an 07. i'm pretty sure you can't do it with the 05 radio though

yeah, I heard about the Fm modulator....I was kind of worring that the sound quality would suck though?
You can appearently swap radios with the 07 with some trouble, I just read a thread about it. I would rather keep the radio I have though!

FM transmitters suck, badly. The sound quality is so bad that I said **** it and went back to CDs with my dad's car... Only direct plug systems like the AUX jack on 07'+ balts or the USB port in the 09s are worth the time.

Maybe it's just on the SS. It's in the same place as the AUX jack, just on the left-hand side.

my friend had an FM modulator....worked great. Occasionally you would drive past someone doing the same and you'd hear their music for maybe 10 seconds, but it always worked afterwards.

I have an 05 also and bought a module that plugs into the ipod and connects to the xm tuner in the car and plays that way. but i removed the rear deck lid and the xm tunner is not there, but the cable is. if i buy the xm tuner will it work with the 05 radio. because i have never seen on the screen when i press the band button it only goes from FM to AM. but if there is a tunner plugged in will it switch to that option ??

I find the FM modulator works ok when it works. I get so much static with it. I find it much easier to just burn mp3 cds

I'm using an in-line antenna FM modulator. It has yet to cut out anywhere and produces pretty dang good sound quality. The transmitter has a plug that is run in where the antenna comes out of the radio. The only downside is you can't take it out of your car and use it in another one bc you have to get behind the dash to install it.
I can't find the link of it but its a little gray box that I installed and put above the AC controls. There is an old thread here somewhere telling you how its installed.

Sounds like a good alternative, I know ebay has a harness your hardwire and it gives you a AUX port.

the radio Mod. for the Ipod SUCKS. The 07s have an mp3/cable out put in the dash display. Do you have a tape adapter. they have mp3 tape adapters that work alot better than the fm mod.

i got a module that plugs into the ipod and then plugs into the ipod. its from Neucleus. and its suppose to plug into the xm tuner. the adapter bassicaly is in between the ipod and xm tunner. but in my 05 i have no xm tunner under the rear deck and when i connected it without the xm tunner it did not work. so my guess is i need the xm tunner, but my question or concern is if i get an xm unit for my 05 will it work with the factory HU ??? because right now i cannot go to xm mode or anythiing, but when the xm tunner is connected does the HU recognise it and will switch to it ???
