vibrations!!??!?!
vibrations!!??!?!
what are the parts of a sedan cobalt that rattle the most? i have already fixed the rear deck but i have a few more rattles and i just cant find were they are?? anyone have any idea what parts rattle the most?
The one I'm battling right now is from the sunroof shade, if I have the roof amnd the shade all the way back the handle on the shade rattles against the frame of the sunroof.
Have you had to deal with the air vent in the trunk yet?
You might not be able to hear it from inside but trust me you can hear it outside, turn up your stereo and walk around to the passenger side rear quarter panel.

i fixed every rattle in my car. I used like 125 sq feet of dynamat, but nothing rattles. i shut off my speakers and just ran thesub to hear if any rattles. nope.
the rear deck obviously rattles like crazy, i dynamated the top and bottom of that, the entire trunk, put two more screws in the license plate, dynamated the doors, and the roof around the sun roof button.

yeah that was what rattled the most. it never rattled that bad until i dynamated everything. i guess the vibrations had no where else to go so they shot up the roof. just added dynamat extreme all around the button etc. and its all good now.
do what i did turn off your speakers and just let the bass hit, then you can hear very clearly where the rattles are coming from, then tackle them from there.
BTW: although dynamat is expensive it works wonders.

THAT MIGHT BE THE ONE I AM HEARING!!! there is one around my head on the passengers side and its pissing my off!
Just some words of advice, there are always going to be rattles, as soon as you fix one another one pops up, just learn to tell which ones are fixable and which ones are not
Emp- I just riped mine right out and put dynamat on both sides, it fixed the rattle, but now when I close my door the sunroof pops up a quarter inch then goes back down. If you cover it up completely make sure you poke holes in it, Its purpose is to allow air to escape when closing the doors, I'm sure you already knew that but just incase.
The thing about sound in a car is it bounces around so sounds might not always seem to be coming from where they actually are.. With the music up push hard against the headliner between the button and the windshield, if this fixes it than thats your problem, if not then keep searching.

Again, I'm sure you know this but just in case... On either side of the trunk there are two black tubes running down, these are water run offs for the sun roof, if one of your tubes came loose at the bottom, where the elbow connection is ( I think thats right where your battery is) it would give the apperance of a leak. Once again I'm sure you have already thought of this but I'm throwing it out there anyway.

Reason why im so baffled is because there was a bit of water everywhere and i can pinpoint most of where it came from... The batt tray for the kinetics in the wheel well had a very minor leak im thinking but i know for sure there was water coming in from both the screws that mount the NGT batt and the sub box. Some how im not sure how but that box's vibrations was unsrewing those L brackets. I just re tighened them and put some damp pro/ spectrum to seal it all up. Then i did quite a bit of damp pro and spectrum around the NGT tray to seal that up BUT at one point it was wet on top of the NGT battery... It wasn't wet anywhere else on top or anywhere i could find but on the top of the batt. So just foamed that opening and covered it in damp pro and sealed it all up.
