Viper 5901 Alarm
Viper 5901 Alarm
I plan on putting the Viper 5901 alarm/ remote start soon on my 2009 SS. i am a little confused about whether I need the XK06 module, XK09 module or the CANMAX400DEI for the remote start. Does anyone no the major difference between the three? also Do I need the 530T power window automation system. I want to have all the bells and whistles with this, IE close windows and sunroof when arming. Any one in the Biz can give me the heads up on whats required.
Ok the module you are looking for is in fact none of the ones you listed. You want to pick up a DLPK. It will do the locks, door trigger, trunk trigger, trunk pop, and pk3 bypass and it is relatively simple to install. The window mods aren't entirely necessary but if you want that feature than it's totally up to you. I have to say if you don't have a lot of experience with this then you may want to consider leaving it to a professional. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, many of which I have seen first hand in the 4 years I've been in the business.
Oh yeah...much can go wrong if you're not careful. The cobalt honestly isn't too bad as far as finding wires go. If you're not using an interface, 90% of the wires are at the passenger side fuse box. You can go many directions if you do want to use an interface...
The way I did mine a few years ago was I used the XK06 only for the bypass. Everything else was hard wired.
On the new chevys that I work on at my store, I do prefer to use the XK01 or the DLPK. I'm not a huge fan on the DLPK only because the XK01 is specifically designed for GMs. But this also depends on cost. Retail on the 06 is $80, while its $100 on the 01 or DLPK. I get some cheap customers, so I'm stuck hardwiring the locks/door pins.
So it's your call, but at the very least you need the XK06, otherwise PK3+ isn't bypassed, and the car won't start.
Oh, and BTW, no matter what method you use, DO NOT use the data2data cable. Do it wire2wire.
Good luck bruddah!
