VSS Wire Really confused

Hello everyone, I have a 2006 Cobalt LS Sedan. I'm installing my AVIC D3 and want to hook up the VSS Wire. I use the Metra 70-2103 harness:

I've heard so many things about the speed sense wire. I've heard that in cobalts it doesn't work. I've heard its the green/white wire on the GM harness. I've heard Its off the transmission module. I've heard the true vss is into the ECU.....Please can someone clarify what to tap into if I can even tap into anything. I understand my D3 doesn't really need it but all possible I would love the little bit of accuracy. Thank you in advance

Check out avic411.com Somebody on there might have found it out.

You could also talk to PolishPaul (on here) he also might know. There's a couple others on here too.

Good job finding the connection. My installers called a buddy they had at GM and did mine today. They say its a purple wire (the only purple wire) located on the tranny mount right beside the exhaust. I didnt look myself but i'll double check that that is the location. They say that there are other secondary wires (which im assuming you tapped into). But from their GM guy that is the "master" vss wire.

I hooked into it behind the speedometer and it works just great for me I have the Avic Z1 never had a problem before that I had the Avic D1. Had them in for 2 years now and believe it was a green wire or a green wire with white..

Yea, i told them that but they got their info from their gm guy so i siad whichever they wanted to do. But if they cant fix this problem as it is now ill have them connect it to that one. They did mention however that they were concerned that that connection to the green and white wire wouldnt generate enough power. Oh well. we'll see. got to give them a call tomorrow.

Maybe I don't understand you guys or you don't understand me. I need to know where to connect the VSS wire that is in the lan kit. Were to tap into the vehicles speed signal, inside the car instead of running the wire through the firewall and into the computer harness.

Ok, I was unaware that the factory harness had a wire for a reading. Thanks!

those of you with a 05-06 SS/SC you can search through my past posts and find where to connect for VSS, and if I have time I will link to it in my sig eventually.
