Talking What do you think of this powered sub?

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN

I was thinking of replacing my 10" Rockford amp and sub. The Infinity takes up less space and I find trunk space more important.

Does any other Balt owner have this powered sub? Let me know what you think of it's performance.

Thanks!

I listen to a wide range of music from Linkin Park, Fall out boy, Papa Roach, The Cult, Shocore, Rob Zombie, Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne etc. Alternative and Dance alike.

I don't listen to my music SUPER loud because I also prefer clarity over how loud a system can be, but I also don't have a lot of cash to blow either, so I thought this powered sub will do the trick for the bass.

The guy at Futureshop was also telling that I'm going to need a $140 wiring harness. But since I don't have the Pioneer system or the OnStar stuff I told him I think the $30 wiring harness will be just fine.

well since you're going for mostly rock it should be good then... it has tight bass and decent response however it largely depends on how you tune it .....i never heard one tuned or mounted correctly and it didn't sound bad... just wasn't enough for me .. and at the time it was 350 when i was looking at it plus all the wiring and install it worked out to being as much if not a bit more then my set up..

I'd rather have clarity hense why I got a smaller amp (also heard a huge amount of reviews on the amp being awesome)

as for the wiring harness. what year is your car? because you might still need a special harness for all you dash info to display correctly, there are ways to get around it .. i don't know what they are though.. in all reality you will need a wiring kit... but not the amp to sub part... and a line out converter so you can use the factory deck... i could be missing something..

i'm itching to get my amp and sub in my ion.. it was awesome in my old sl1, and the insulation in that thing was shitty... do alot of research.. also go someplace you can listen to it, i know best buy and circuit city carry the units around here. you don't want to drop 300-400 bux on something then wish you did it another way.. and most of all make sure you can't get a separate set up for cheaper.. I know places will run monster deals

http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/bundl...0your%20stereo
for instance...

infinity makes good stuff though but just dont get sucked into a price tag and get something you're unhappy with... hell the amp, sub, and box for my setup cost like 250 or so.. the whole setup ran me about 450 after all the installation fees and wiring.. just something to keep in mind... and remember to ask what the installed price would be and make sure they're matching things up right... when i was first looking at subs i had companies quote me for 600-700 dollars after install, but they were using wiring and such that was made to handle way more then my system would put out.. setting me up with 750W amps and 200W subs.. i know that doesn't apply if you get the infinity, but just make sure you're not getting nailed somewhere else..

I plan to add in my Sony CDX-GT610Ui deck down the road and it should be a direct replacement over the stock CD/Radio that I have right now.

*My stock doesn't have MP3 or OnStar capabilities, it's not the pioneer system*

Also on sale at Futureshop are these 6 1/2 Infinity speakers:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN
which sounded exactly like the MTX's that he demo'ed for me. Great highs and mids from what I was hearing.

I haven't decided what 6x9's to get just yet, but if the Infinity 6x9's sound good then it looks like my Balt will be all Infinity's when it comes to speakers.
Here's are the 6x9 Infinity speakers I was looking at:

I have a 2006 Cobalt LT. I don't think I need a special wiring harness other then the $30 one I found at Bestkits.com. But let me know if I"m wrong.
http://www.bestkits.com/SearchResult...005%20-%202006
this should be the right one that I need to install my Sony CDX-GT610Ui

What Futureshop is charging for installation is $39 for a pair of speakers, so that means $78 for installing the 6 1/2's and 6x9's and a $79 charge to install the amp and sub. The Infinity is a powered sub but they still charge $79. I think I'll save myself some bucks if installing the 4 main speakers are easy enough.

What do you guys think?

I installed one in the yellow car, It's deffinately a good investment if your not looking for overwhelming Bass. It filled out my system nicely, Alpine 4 channel 50 watts RMS to Infinity speakers all around, and a Basslink in the trunk with a clarion head unit.

The 30$ harness is still kindof expensive...and if you have a chance maybe check out the BASSLINK X for a little more power.

200 watts is a bit weak. I would look for a separate sub and amp, each rated at 500 watts RMS minimum. Look on eBay for better quality at low prices. I bought a set of Infinity Kappa 6'x9''s on eBay for $87 US Brand New! Future Shop has the same speakers for $299.99 CAN. Even when you factor in shipping costs, exchange and duty fees, they were still less than half price. Unless they have a big sale on, Future Shop is not the cheapest place to buy electronics.
