Question What options do I have for my system?

Hello,

I just bought a Chevrolet Cobalt LT Sedan without Pioneer audio system & without OnStar. Otherwise I think it has all of the other options that I could get. My question is pretty simple I just want to know before I go out searching to buy all the stuff needed.

I currently have a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB, Blaupunkt Amp & Rockford Punch subwoofer that I took out of my previous car that I sold. I want to hook all 3 up into my new chevy cobalt. What options do I have for putting in my aftermarket cd player, amp & sub? What things do I NEED to buy and what are optional. Thanks and if anyone can link that'd be great so I can try to see if I can buy the items in my area.

Also lastly I noticed my front left speaker doesn't have any sound coming out of it, no music or chimes. Is there a fix for this I searched on google and it looks like a lot of people have the problem but I didn't find a fix. Any link or how to do the fix would be great! Just want to get that fixed before I do the stereo install.

Thanks everyone hope to get this all going this weekend

Im assuming by your user name you have a 2007 chevy cobalt LT. In this case because of your year of cobalt you need GM's data module (C2R-GM11 / (GMCOL11), I got away with it because i have a 2006. You will also need a dash kit BKGMK350 and antanna adapter BAA20. I got these model numbers from Best Kits Online, i work for bestbuy canada and thats where we get are parts from. If your state bond then im pretty sure they use them or they use Metra Electronics. Now! some people get around this but you may or may not need to do some cutting behind your factory deck for your aftermarket to fit better, some people may tell you other wise but its what i do. Sub and amp are pretty straight forward...

For your speaker, Well it could be one of many things i suggest taking your door panel off and checking your connections to the speaker. Check for oxidation or corrosion. While your behind the deck also check those connections. To determine if the speakers blown i find the easiest thing to do is to pop the speaker behind the deck with a d battery or jump the + n - connections off the factory to a extra speaker you may have laying around. Could keep going on n on.

sounds like the speaker is blown.

you can also get the cheap metra harness but you would loose your door chimes. i believe the model is 70-2103 but dont quote me on that look on the metra site or the faq i listed in this section

most people at the shop thank me when i get rid of the chimes for them but its amazing how the one person u forget to tell gets pissed.

Stock chimes in most cases arent that bad but the aftermarket module chimes sound just horrible IMO.

So if I don't care if I have chimes I just need to buy these from Metra?? Do they carry these products at best buy, walmart, auto zone or advance auto parts??

Correct me if I am wrong before I buy please.

- ASWC (will this keep my controls on my steering wheel even if I use an aftermarket pioneer cd player?)
- Stock No. 99-3302 (Dash Kit)
- Stock No. 70-2104 (Wire Harness)
- Stock No. 40-CR20 (Antenna Adapter)

that and they're LOUD. The bad part is if you turn them down it turns down the entire sound system volume, so if you adjust them all the way down, you have no sound at all, which sucks. I wish I had gotten the cheap one and ditched the onstar, since I don't use it anyways.
