wierd headlight

I have gen 1 HID's and for some reason the passengers side low beam wont turn on once in a while. if i turn the headlights off and then back on again it will come on tho. it doesnt do it often but it still annoys me. i know its not the ballast or bulb b/c i just replaced my ballasts and bulbs a few weeks ago. this happened with both sets. any ideas on what the problem could be and how to fix it?

Its your wires.
Are you running plug and play or relay harness

they were plug and play. this morning when i left for work my passenger headlight worked fine. i guess last night was just a fluke of some sort. how would i go about finding out exactly what the problem is with my wiring?

You need to add the relay harness, the plug and play is just garbage because it doesnt send enough current to the ballast that is required for normal operation. Sure it will work alot of the time but you run into issues like you are explaining all the time and with those issues also reduces the lifespan of the ballast. Go out and get those relay harness's asap and I guarantee you dont have anymore issues.

x2
Plus without the relay, HID's tend to burn out stock wires
Go to 3BSpec, in the vendor index, I think the harness is only like $15-20, worth every penny IMO.

well i did the "ultimate high beams" mod a few months back, and to my understanding u needed a relay harness with the hid's to be able to do this without problems. so i was under the assumption the relay was built in or something. then again i basically know nothing about headlights so im probably wrong. if i do get the relay harness from 3bspec would i have to rewire my ultimate highbeams? what would happen?

I think this thread may have told me what I need to do fix my HID issue. My issue is that the driver side HID low beam isn't turning on while driving. It does light up however when I lock/unlock the car.
I am the second owner of this car, and the previous owner had these installed. Most likely the stock relay harness buggin' out..
I will be picking up a new harness.. we'll see if this fixes the problem..

cheers =)

bootz that sounds like your low beam part of your bulb is burnt out. when you lock/unlock your car it flashes your highbeams. also i would disable that feature as that will shorten the lifespan of the bulbs as from what i've come to understand they don't exactly like being turned on and off so suddenly like that.

Interesting... thanks for the tip.

If the car has the stock headlights, but upgraded bulbs (not sure on the actual intensity), would you recommend upgrading the harness as these "bright white"bulbs, I have read, tend to suck the life outa the stock harness.

BTW, i just got my 06 ss/sc four days ago.(yaaay!) So forgive me for not knowing the details just yet. I love the way these white lights look. Not a bluish tint at all.

Any suggestions for replacement bulbs or harnesses(if needed)?

Thanks

all depends on whats in there. if they are the silvania bright white bulbs then just put any bulb you choose in and they shouldn't damage anything as long as they are a 9007 35w bulb if im not mistaken. now if you have HID's thats a differen't story all together and all depends on what balast you have installed and what not. and congrats on your purchase. where in edmonton you live?
