Will a 4' in-dash Nav fit in SS ?

I have a chance to get get a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 for cheap. Accourding to Crutchfield it won't fit in the Cobalt SS. How could I get it in there?

Here's the info on it:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Ywc1aFJ...50&I=130AVICZ1

"Note: Your dash must have a 4" opening for the AVIC-Z1 to fit; the 3" openings found in some vehicles, especially GM and Chrysler, will not accommodate it."

ive looked in to the avic's too. although they say it wont fit you should be able to mod the dash yourself or find a car audio place to help you. ive seen pics of 'balts with a double-din system and they look great.

As long as it's possible, I'll get it. I'll definitely have a shop do it.

It is possible but you may have to "modify" a metal bar behind the dash. It is really easy.

From my personal car Dictionary:

Modify - (verb) - To hack the **** out of, or completely remove a part in order to make way for much better aftermarket parts, or just to make your car more unique/clean.

Oh and my advice: If you can get it for relatively cheap, GET IT, i just read about this thing and it sounds F***ing amazing, even if i couldnt fit this into my dash, I'd ghetto rig it just because it kicks so much ass!

As with any aftermarket part, my philosophy is ANYTHING can fit into a car with the right elbow grease

Hahaha. To elaborate on the modifying - Bend the metal bar behind the stereo. You will not be able to see it anyways and it will not affect anything.

Actually there are 3 screws/bolts that hold that metal bar in place. i think it was a 7mm head size and you need one of ther wscrew drivers that has a 90degree head on it.
