Owner: Adam
2006 Cobalt SS/SC
Got it stock, non G85, 4.5 years ago.

Been in love with this car since day one. Been through many little issues along the way but thanks to everyone on here it is where it is now.

Last last winter we tore it down and did a mild re-build and trans swap. Had a fun time and learned a lot; it was really my first experience dealing with engine internals and such. Made it into the 300+ whp M62 club, and had fun from may of 2014 to about October…

Then for the short story. First, the car quit moving one day. After lots of diagnosis, I figured I had exploded my clutch. Spent the whole winter tearing the trans out alone in my garage on the floor. Midway through, Pwerks discovered my problem was simply that my passenger axle stripped the splines in the intermediate shaft! what a stupid, expensive mistake, because I spent so much time doing all this for nothing and tons of money for a new clutch and everything, axles now included, when I could have just replaced my intermediate shaft and been on my way…. Live and learn, live and learn…

Well, I had the car back on the road in march for one week when it died on the highway during a WOT pull… ruh-roh! Would not restart, had to get her towed home. Again, spent a lot of time diagnosing, and decided to just take it to pwerks, where they discovered my intake manifold was flooded with coolant… replaced that and it wouldn’t start. Compression tests fine… timing on point… 58psi rail pressere… bought a used pcm to try that out and nothing… tried many other things between april and late june, then it went to GM. About a month later they are sure it’s the pcm! Well they tried a new one and wouldn’t ya know it, it WAS the pcm, and the used one I tried was fried too! hindsight is 20/20.

Anyway, it has now been on the road for one week, 9 months later, and is running mint*. Over the winter I acquired some goodies…

Huge thanks to absolutely everybody for everything here. As much as I love the car it wouldn’t be anywhere near where it is if it wasn’t for everyone that’s helped me literally every step of the way, whether it be advice, literal how to’s made for me, helping hands, part hookups, anything. Made a lot of friends along the way and hope I can do my part in the long run by giving back!

Anyway, mods list.

Looking good. How did the fried PCM cause coolant in your intake mani?
