My friend has a Volvo S40 T5, and it has a K04 turbo.

From our knowledge, this is also the turbo in Volkswagens, and as we all know, the Cobalt SS has a K04.

I found a brief thing saying although they are K04's, the Cobalt SS is different from the VW K04.

What is different about these turbos, even though they're all K04's?

 

I believe NSRT-4s had K04s as well. Dint know the difference though, always wondered.

 

their different setups i think. Like the ss/tc use bypass valves and vw's use diverter valves

 

I think the actual cartridges are slightly different with the VWs being closer to KO3

 

Hmm.. now I wonder why they would make them different but call them the same?

 

I believe the VW's are K03s

 

The Mazdaspeed 3s have k04s as well

 

we have a bigger k04 than the MS3s. ours is k04-22 and theirs is k04-18 or something. I researched it awhile ago cause i was going to buy a busted k04 from a MS3 for a BNR core. might be off on my numbers but I know ours is bigger
