Eaton n00b question...

Been reading up about blowers, and just want to make sure that I have this correct.

So, if you had two identical engines, let's use the LSJ for example, and had two identical superchargers on them, M62's (keeping it simple), they would obviously have identical boost characteristics.

Lets get hypothetical. Leave one stock, and bore out the intake, port the heads, put larger valves in the heads, cams, add something crazy like the BMW variable valve control system used in the non USDM 770 (the 770 had no throttle body, the cam position, duration, and lift could be varied SO MUCH and so quickly, that it could be used as throttle control and idle control), and put in a larger diameter exhaust on one. This is theoretical, so we're talking about an almost unstreetable setup, this thing would NOT idle worth a crap (well, the BMW 770 style valve trickery might change that).

The question would be, would this variation in the overall geometry of the way the engine can breathe effect the amount of actual boost you would see in the intake manifold? Or am I understanding how this works wrong, and it has more to do with the cylinder fills up, then the air backs up into the lower intake, and that is where your boost comes from with a blower?

i think that none of that would make a difference as the supercharger itself creates the boost not the supporting mods.

you not actually doing anything to make the blower push more air into the cylender....

I could be wrong... I dont really know **** lol

Centrifugal superchargers compress air. Blowers blow air, and don't compress it internally.

you would see less boost. With those mods, VE would increase, leaving less air in the intake manifold, reducing the amount of boost pressure.

That is what I thought, thanks. Now time to start doing research...
