Glad I could help!
Yeah that's my thoughts exactly. Honestly I might just stick with stock turbo and just tune and work on appearance. My buddy and I would like to drop a ls1 in a 240sx, I'll just put all the power into that and make the ss look clean.

Igofast, how do you have all of those mods and not even a tune? Do you at least have gms1?

You don't realize how fast a 400HP Cobalt is until you drive one. A 400Hp Cobalt DD is more the enough for a everyday car. That's my opinion tho of course. There are alot of guy who want 500+, in my mind it is just unnecessary
Yea anything over 400hp on a fwd car I dont think would be much fun on the streets. I dont beat on my car but I get into boost every now and then. I have a good friend with a SRT4 with the S256 and hes sittin right around 400 and that was a blast to ride in.

You can still run the parts without a tune it just won't really give you the gain untill then.

I agree. 400 is perfect for a street car. My SRT4 sits at 400whp and it's right at the edge of too much for the street but a hell of a lot of fun.

Good info in this thread. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my LSJ to get her to that 400 mark as well.

I agree to a certain extent, I drive my car on the street but in el paso there is alot of ground between lights and u take highway pretty much everywhere, especially when driving to and from base, so when you say street are you talkin the exception of highway runs? i have seen 450whp srt4's lay sum serious smacc down in el paso and seem to drive nicely on the street, myself i wouldnt open up where there are street lights anyway i can tame my foot until i get on the highway.

I know but I just don't understand why you're gonna upgrade to a bigger turbo, but you haven't even felt gains or nothing from a little tune. It's just my point of view though.

Probably gonna use the money for a different build and just get a good tune and keep the ss how it is. Me and my roommate are wanting to build a ls1 240sx..

"he {(')} 'ed out? or $"
Lol just thought I'd invest in something that I'm not paying payments on. I may still do it later in the year next year, but I'd really like to get this 240 build started already.. Been planning it for a while.

igofast, were you at the eldorodo meet last friday?? i was in the white balt...yeah, i will be doing the same next month. i can get the turbo now,but tuning is my question and james is about the only person i would pay to tune me with hpt. matter of fact,if he would accept,i would fly him to texas to do it!! otherwise, vince would do the tune. imo 400hp is the max i want to go. above that, you have to do hwy rolls above 60 lol. zfr is what i probably go wih. hahn is still a possibility though. if i can get 390 on the hahn, i would be happy. 10-15 hp imo, would not be too noticiable.

I would like to say that the ZFR or zzp's version of the EFR is one hell of a turbo. When borg first made them we were sceptical about them at bullseye but when we got in out first one, they are just amazing. The quality is just outstanding and they make quite a bit of power with quick spool for their size. A journal bearing turbo would not be able to keep up with them for their quick spool and power limit. Then having a bov and wastegate built in can save some money also.
Combine that with what zzp does with the turbine houseing for the cobalt and they are just sweet.
I would love to have one for my turbo ion when I build it but they are pretty pricey for my goals.
I know borg warner has a hard time casting the turbind houseings whithout having them crack and thats why there is such a delay in the supply and demand part too
