i would like some advice.

hi ther likee i am new to the site. so for i it. okay basically i am new to the world of performance. i have a 2006 cobalt ss 2.4 all stock as for as ino. i would like to go turbo. i have looked at the 2.4 list of mods but dont understand the turbo kits. here waz my first idea that i would go all engine
i waz planning on buy JBP cams, headers and the exhuast kit they have. i waz also planning on buy a K&N typhoon kit. and the adapter to put on an LSj TB.
would this be a smart thing to do? i have talked to some friends and they told me that the headers i dont need because the kit comes with them. and they also said that the CAI iz unnecessary as will. can you guys plz help me out on clearing this things for me.

It sounds like (and correct me if I'm wrong) that you have little experience with forced induction vehicles (supercharger/turbo). Honestly, if I were you, I would have 2 options:

Option one: keep your current car, put a cold air intake on it, performance (catless?) downpipe, catback exhaust, maybe a short throw shifter and call it good.

Option two: sell car, buy a stock SS/SC or SS TurboCharged.

My brother owns a LS that he turboed and I've owned both a Supercharged SS and Turbocharged SS. If you don't have the mechanical know how and the knowledge to tune your own vehicle and mod it. Don't!

Best of luck, welcome to CSS.net

If I'm reading it correctly, it sounded like your friends advised you not to get the intake or header as a turbo kit will replace these items anyways. This would be correct as the turbo maniflod and IC piping will take their place. You could always start out with and intake and exhaust. The mods arent too expensive and can be a good starting point to mod while you save up for and do more research on what you want to do. Also you can sell most of what you replaced. I had everything needed to go TVS and still went turbo.

If you don't care about your car, sure, put JBP crap on it. If you don't want to blow your **** up, look elsewhere.

What exactly do you want out of the car? It sounds like you just want boost cause that's what all the cool kidz have. What are you most comfortable with? You really shouldn't buy a FI kit if you can't diagnose/maintain it yourself. I saw a local do that with his 2.4 and he ended up blowing the motor sky high because he knew nothing about what he was doing.

Are you planning on taking to the strip or just driving it around town?

Read up on here, meet some people in your local area that have built their own turbo cars, etc. The basic concepts are the same no matter whether it's a Chevy, Ford, Honda, whatever.

The problem with throwing money at a shop to do it is that you're not going to know what to do when something goes wrong, hell you may not even realize something IS wrong until it's too late. Plus a shop isn't going to be at your beck and call when you need them to, unless they don't have many customers, in which case, I would question even taking my car to them.

There are plenty of people here who have built their own cars, you should be able to read up on it and learn everything you need to know.

If you are really set on going turbo and want to learn more about it, buy a book called maximum boost by Corky Bell. By far the best and most knowledgable book I have read about turbo systems.

The LS4 TB idea has been ditched by most people a while ago because of drivability issues. What makes you want one so badly?

The ls4 cause no driveability issues. If your tuner doesn't know how to tune for one, that causes a driveability issue.
