lookin at goin turbo

well im lookin to go turbo on my 2.2. what kit would everyone suggest? i was lookin at the garrett kit for the 2.4 but wasnt sure if the return style fuel system part would even work on the 2.2. did zzp ever make the 2.4 kit? i want a kit with a BOV, yes that makes me sound like a ricer but i love the sound of a BOV and would prefer to have a kit that includes one. i have an automatic so my only choice is terifica(spell??) so im just lookin for a bolt in kit without the extra of a tune or tuner that comes with it. any thoughts?

another thing is i'd rather have an upgraded intake mani as well with the kit.

I would suggest you get the Garrett Turbo Essentials Plus Kit (P/N 766621-3)
Then go buy the atmospheric BOV of your choice. I recommend the HKS SSQV BOV if you like to hear the pssssttttttt
Your going to need injectors, intercooler, piping, air filter, trifecta tuning and a boost gauge if you want one.
And yes get the 2.4 intake manifold but that you should get from crate engine depot or GM parts direct. I already had the 2.4 mani swap done when my turbo was instaled.

well i was kinda hopin to get a kit with all the piping and IC with it. couldnt i get a kit with the piping and just cut the pipe somewhere to add a BOV and the pipe with the mountin tube with it to install? or would the extra break in the pipe lead to a bigger chance of blowin apart or a leak?

If you cut the piping, that means you will have at least 2 ends that don't have rolled edges. You run the risk of your couplers slipping off during boost. I would suggest the above kit, and then going with some 42's, your choice of bov, 2.4 mani, intercooler optional, with an autometer boost gauge. That way you won't be in the situation I am and have to make your own dp.

do what the first guy said.

as for the second guy the rolled edges help, but arent 100% necessary. your not going to run the entire piping route and not have a place that doesnt have a rolled edge.

I can hear my recirc blow off valve very clearly. no need to run an atmosphereic one and lose out on performance.

idk, im probably going with the zzp kit with a front mount intercooler and installing myself with a tune from trifecta

i think that would be the cheapest set up that is going to be reliable

You have the BOSCH Recirc. BOV that came with the Hahn Kit?
That's what I have and I'm ok with it, can hear it for sure but it sounds different than the usual atomopheric that you hear on imports. I should mount my camera under the hood to show everyone that the Hahn Kit BOV is clearly heard when shifting.

Honestly I would just get an ebay intercooler. Save your self a LOT of money. Same with the piping.

Don't buy into the fad of spending over 5-6-700 bucks for a block of aluminum with fins. You're a 2.2, so unless you're talking about doing engine work, there's no need for a huge intercooler because you're not going to be running gobs of power. With your internals you're limited to ~250-260 whp, and a small intercooler is just fine for that. A lot of the turbo 2.2 guys aren't even using an intercooler.
