Looking for an efficient turbo

OK, so I keep debating on whether I will go SC or TC...it's going to be some time before I am able to really do either, but I want to make a plan for both...I already have a plan for SC if I go that route (2 plans actually...there's a person locally who's procharged and someday if he goes turbo, maybe I can pick up his setup...otherwise stock M62...have both plans written out for what I want).

This is for a turbo build now. A little base info, I would probably look into using the Saab 9-3 intake and exhaust mani and am curious what options there are for a small, efficient turbo?

My overall goals for the car are to run a stock engine with forced induction....not wanting a lot of power by any means....180-200whp is all I really want. This is my DD so it NEEDS to be both reliable and street friendly.

I just need some suggestions for turbos that will be fairly small to run on the Saab mani...I'm not very familiar with the models available...but I've heard of T25, K04, 16g and a few others and I know the very basics about these turbos...give me some opinions on which would be best...or which would bolt up to the Saab mani.

Also, as for intercooling, on a small setup like this that I want to be efficient and reliable, would it be a good idea to make sure I have one? What size intercooler is recommended?

Thanks for your help.

10psi form a 16g would be close to that horsepower number and you really would not need a intercooler. a t04e 50 trim would be a good one also for the low power numbers

Thanks for the help. Intercooler isn't needed, but wouldn't it help in the long term of the car and turbo to keep it cooler? Perhaps I need to do some more reading/research.

turbo not so much honestly lower intake iar temps just means more boost without knock and a little more power. You could turbo with a decent aluminum piping coming around and it will probably be fine. Hell my supercharger put out intake temps in the 300's and I never had issues. If it is not going to be a race car where you run boost for minutes long before lifting and only maybe a 10-15 second run you will be fine on low boost without an intercooler.

All right, thanks for the info. Yeah it's my DD and it more than likely will see little to no track time (unless I can get out to Road America or some other course to road race, but I doubt that will happen either).

Thanks again, that gives me a better idea of what is needed and what isn't for the build.
