Map question???????
So I keep hearing my stock MAP sensor is a 1 bar sensor which is 14.7 psi.If true, why does my manifold pressure on my torque app only show 1.3 psi,but my gauge shows 13 psi?I know the gauge isn't running of the ecm being it's mechanical, but is the ECM not capabble of reading over 1.3 psi,or is it the map sensor?I'm a 2007 2.2L.

I have one but has to be wired in.How is my stock MAP "1 bar" if it can't see past 1.3psi?That makes no dam sense haha.I just need a pigtail for a LSJ MAP and it's going in.

1 bar map sensor reads 30 inhg (vacuum) to 0 atmosperic pressure. the atmospher at sea level is 14.7 psi which is all the weight of all the oxygen and oher gasses pressing down on you. a naturally aspirated engine can only such in 14.7psi of air at sea level. on a boosted application, the engine is now sucking in atmospheric pressure at 14.7 psi + boost pressure(all pressure over atmospheric pressure). this is why a 1 bar map sensor reads 14.7 psi which is atmospheric pressure. when you purchase a 3 bar map sensor, the map sensor will read 14.7 psi atmospheric pressure(vacuum) with the first bar then on the second bar it will read 14.7 psi boost above atmospheric pressure and the third bar will read another 14.7 psi for a total of 29 psi boost.
simple! right?
