Does anyone know if you'll get more blower noise by using an aftermarket intake set-up??
I want to really hear this thing!

 

Hear it?? Dunno bout you... but if I stomp on er with the window down @ around 3000rpm I can hear er loud and clear

 

yes intake will make it scream

 

see my ram air thread... after market intake with custom ram air set up...... plus a 3 inch pully..... i dont think i could get any more whine out of it

 

I was on streetfire and watched a video of this mini cooper s. He said he had an upgraded front mount inter cooler and he said it was making it sound so loud because of the fmic. I don't know if a fmic wil make the uspercharger louder but holy f*ck, you have to hear this thing. I will look for the link and post it soon.

Hey Memph, Where did you get the K&N Intake? And do you have a part number?

 

no videos of it running on the streets?

 

I bought the K&N intake from ModernPerformance.com. They are great people to work with and fast shipping. Unfortunately I don't have a part number for you as of now because i'm at work lol. Go on their website. They hsould have the number on there. I do have the CEL. Got it the second day after installation. But great intake. You can feel the extra power.

 

I couldn't find any of them inside the car or running it on the street. But how obnoxious is that supercharger whine? I never knew a fmic could do that.

 

i dont think that the noise is from the fmic, there looks to be a large intake looking thing where the stock ram air used to be, towards the end or the movie you can see it pretty well, also, i thaught the mini cooper was like our cars with a roots type blower and not a centrifigal???

 

It has the roots type blower, the m62 too . My friend has a stock one and damn, even stock those things scream.

 

there would be no reason or purpose for a fmic then.... so i think someone lied to you..... i think it is that carbon fiber intake looking thing that makes the noise.....

 

I just read what the title said. And like i said in the previous post, I didn't think a fmic would do that. But that is one loud freaking supercharger. Kinda annoying though. Without hitting the gas the thing is whining.

 

that sounds more like belt whine than blower whine. My cobra started making that noise when I switched to a gatorback belt. I'd really have to hear it while driving to be able to tell how much of that was s/c noise.

To put it in a nutshell, just get an intake and you'll really hear this thing whine, but only until you get an aftermarket exhaust. Then you won't hear it anymore.

 

Mini Cooper S's are slow.

Even with a supercharger.

 

LOL yeah but they have a loud whine even stock. My friend has one that's completely stock except for aftermarket 18 inch rims and tires. But damn that thing whines pretty loud for stock. I'm trying to get him to buy an intake, however, he's saving up for an evo.
