Oil Catch Kit Questions
Oil Catch Kit Questions
Ok, I was told to use a catch kit on my Supercharger setup, I understand why I should use it, But would like more info on How to use it.
When Looking through the engine bay thread I noticed member EXsoccer1921 say this
Now I already bought a can with no filter, but if the above statement is in fact true I have no problem tapping the top and adding a barb fitting for a filter, Also Im not familiar with these fittings -> -6AN to -10AN, can some one explain how to read that or even show a pic of the fittings?
also I would like opinions on running the lines should I do his way ^ valve cover to can to intake OR valve cover to can and have the 2nd hose hang down as a over flow?
this is the can I have, plenty of room on top to drill and tap for the filter if needed.

a catchcan is a pointless mod unless it has a breather on the top, and the line is a -6AN to -10AN line.
the PCV system on these cars is not run off of a vaccum pump like older v'8s and drag cars. there is simply four holes that go down the entire head, block, all the way to where the crank rotates. people are using catch cans when they don't need them. they think its going to catch oil sprayed up by those holes going from the bottom of the engine, to the valve cover, and then to the intake, which only releaves crank case pressure and routes it back into the engine. however. very, very little amounts of oil do make it up and through. but are actually perfectly fine to go into the engine, and thats all people are catching anyway, a few drops every week.
if i were to set one up. i would have the fitting on the valve cover and intake changed to a -10AN fitting. and get a catch can with a breather filter on the top, then run the line from the valve cover, to the can, to the intake.
