SC question
You guys are probably thinking "great, another one" But I have a question that I can't seem to have found answered. I currently have an LE5 and just got my hands on a blower, lsj intake manifold, and some injectors. Obviously I need more parts. But before I go ahead and start buying everything to SC the LE5...Should I find an LSJ motor and build that? I was planning on boring the block .010 over on either motor. But the LSJ has a lot more aftermarket support as far as cams and valvetrain go. So my main question is would it be more beneficial to build up an LSJ or do what I can do the LE5? Thanks everyone. And I apologize if this has been answered, I've been searching for a few days all over about it and couldn't find anything.

It'll be cheaper to just buy a SS Supercharged car. Then you'll get the suspension/trans and all the good stuff.
What you're doing would be like paying $100 for 1 share of GM stock.

The cars suspension has been all ripped out and replaced with koni yellows/eibach sportlines. the transmission is also new, has 1,000 miles on it with a stage 2 clutch. I'm doing the build for fun. Buying another car is definitely not an option.

I've read into the turbo kit and everything, it was my main goal until I found a blower for 100 bucks out of a junkyard. The car I pulled it off of had massive rear end damage. Someone ended up buying the motor but didn't take the blower off it. I did personally saw it run before they did the pull. Kinda sad too, the odometer of the SS they pulled it out of was only 29k. And it was an 06!
Also, thoughts on a stand alone ECU? I was just reading about AEM's standalone, Infinity.

i have never heard of a successful lsj swap into an le5 car. it would prove to be too expensive and for reliablility and all that it would seriously be cheaper to sell the l35 for 6-7k and buy an lsj for 8-9k dude. you will start out making more power and all that jazz. but if trading cars is not an option then you're boned. build your le5. look in the dyno thread for numbers... its definately easier to make power in an lsj.
heck you could sleeve your le5 and cram lsj pistons into it and have a massivley strong motor too

Thanks riceburner. I was looking for someone like you to respond. So going by what you just said, I should just get an LSJ motor and build that? That means new rods and pistons also, correct? As far as I've read the LE5 is the only one with forged internals. But like I said, a new car with an LSJ isn't possible at the moment. Heck, the local junkyard has an LSJ, 44k miles for 350 bucks. An engine swap is much easier for me right now than buying an LSJ car.

And I was also looking at my supercharger and wondering how people port the triangle hole on the bottom. I don't see how you'd get any gains from that, the blades come TDC with how it's machined now. Wouldn't even a small gap make you lose airflow instead of gaining? Can post a pic if needed

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured out that LSJ pistons are lower compression. I'm getting a set from a local auto store. I'll bump this thread if I have anymore questions, other than that look for my build thread coming up soon!

I'm in the middle of my supercharger build on my LE5. My question is about the MAP sensor. I have one that came with the blower, and there's a location for one on the LSJ intake manifold. (on the lower left) I just need to run one right? The one on the blower is IAT and the one on the manifold is IAT2? Which one would be best to tune on?

I wouldnt use the one on the blower.
IAT comes from your MAF sensor.
IAT2 comes from the MAP sensor on the intake manifold.
Get the 2.5 bar stock LSJ MAP sensor that comes on the intake manifold and then take the IAT wire from your MAF sensor and put it to the IAT wire on the MAP sensor.
Your IAT will become IAT2. You really cant have both.
I find it beneficial to do the above so you know when your getting hot and if the IC pump is running.

I have the sensor that was on the blower, can I just use that one? Pretty sure its 2.5..
