this looks like an awesome system with a lot of potential, and the best this is i don't have to get a new header and downpipe, just an axle back.

so what do you guys think

That has GOT to be incredibly inefficient.

exactly, no need to worry about heat issues, no need for a custom exhaust manifold and dp.

Youre just loosing a lot of exhaust speed by having the turbo way back there. I mean it would be a lot cheaper because you wouldnt have to do all those exhaust mods, but I find it hard to believe it will be cheaper and/or offer more HP than just buying a $300 supercharger. This is just my opinion. :-)

but think about it, it takes one person to know you have a turbo under your back tire..... how long do you think it would stay there

it will create more horsepower through less heat is my understanding, and i also understand that exhaust velosity is the same at anypoint in your exhaust. i may be wrong though. according to there sight it spools up just as good as any other turbo set up. another thing this kit does is allows you more room to mount much larger turbo's
ie gt35 or gt40

i'm not to concerned about that. most thieves wouldn't look under your car for a turbo kit.

The velocity is a less at the rear of your car for sure. Its all pipe loss, thats why every piped system needs booster pumps....

I've seen this system first hand on a friend of mine's GTO back in Va. If anyone in Va goes to Bass Pro Shop in Hampton on Saturday nights, he's the Yellow GTO, anyhow there is nothing that seems inefficient about this system, and he was putting down just over 500 HP with stage 1 internals at 7 lbs of boost.

500 hp at 7 psi on a gto is awesome. i just want more psi, i plan to run at least 18 psi.

Well 7 psi was his daily driving set up, he said he could go to 8 or 9 and push 600, which is still sweet. I've often wondered about such a setup for the cobalt as opposed to the Hahn setup, nice to see STS thought about it before me though. I think it's a great system, having seen it, a having rode in the GTO as well.

how did his exhaust sound? i imagine the turbo would quiet it down a bit.

Actually, his exhaust note seemed almost factory, perhaps a bit deeper. Even when he spoled up, the noe was nice and deep, of course the high pitched spooling over took the tone, but by that point, that's all you want to hear anyways

One problem i see, is it may be lesss effiecient than a regular turbo setup because of the plumbing there is so much and it goes from front to the back of the car, dont think it would work as well on a 4banger, looks nice none the less.

It works well...the only argument is that it the turbo is exposed to the elements under the car.
The GTO in Hampton is awesome, it was built by TYByrne motorsports.

So how long does it take to actually produce positive pressure on the intake? That just seems to scream inefficiency.

Regards,

Ryan

Thought about this last year. Didn't like the idea of how accesible/exposed the turbo was.
Not only to thieves, but debris as well. Had STS showed their universal kit installed on some kind of small engine (<3.0 liter) I would have done some more research taken it a bit more seriously.

On a side note I'd like to add this also: The fact that these cars are producing such large numbers with turbos shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. If a 2 liter Honda can squeeze upwards of 700 whp, a 6.0L GTO should be easily surpassing those numbers, if desired.
