Think shes on her way out....

My M62

Could be one of two things.

was raining today and the filter got soaked and she sucked in water

or the blower bearings are on their way out.

what its doing - blower is starting to sound louder of rocks moving around like, and today it was whistling like the sound if you were to blow across the top of a glass bottle to make a train like sound.

drives - apparently normal

91,500 miles on the blower, swapped the oil out at 50k and 75k

been on a 2.9 pulley since 2 months after ownership back in 06, and been on a 2.7 pulley since 55k miles.

sprayed meth pre blower since the 2.7 was put on at 55k miles

looking for TVS blower but not sure if shes still good to drive for a bit or if i should take it easy on her or what? id rebuild but the fact that im looking for a tvs, id rather build after shes off before sale and just do TVS sooner than later.

Questions/Comments....

Blades are mint. Full coating still on all rotor blades.

Turbo isn't in the budget, also tvs will do all what my goals are. Looking for 330-350whp.

Easily obtainable IMO with more Meth retune and headbuild without pushing motor

possible coupler. Usually if the bearings are going out they will stop supporting the rotor packs and the rotors with scrape the case

Mine made the rocks noise for ~60k miles before I pulled it off and sold it. The car it went on was still boosting very strong when that guy sold it.

If you are looking for a TVS, send CobaltVenomSS a pm, I believe he is selling his... he sold the car today

The rock noise isn't That bad it was the whistling today that surprised me. I think tho the filter got wet as it was raining heavily while driving.

Already tried to get his but he sold it before I got to it by like 5 mins

I think im going to write that off as wet filter possibly a little water, my cavalier got SOAKED once and it had the same sound.

Might be time to pull the filter and get a new one. Hasnt been touched in 4 years... lol

No boo, just tweak a tune and you can run as little or as much boost as you want (within the limits of the turbo or motor obviously). With a TVS it's swap pulleys, retune and max out around 350hp which and LNF on corn can do. I want my car between 400-450whp.

I understand, but not everyone wants turbo. Some people (myself included) like the power band of the SC cars vs turbo. We all know turbos make more power but you can still get great power with the SC cars. Plus, it is quite a bit more expensive to do a turbo swap vs doing a 350 whp TVS build, especially if you pick up a used TVS for 1500 or less.

i am a turbo swapped lsj and i still love and miss the sc. turbo is a world of a difference and lots of fun but if the cobalt wasnt switched to turbo most ppl would still be sc'd so its whatever. we got ours sc'd and some bought the turbo ones after, its not like they came out the same time.

Just because you want that much doesnt mean that he does. Gotta respect what others want to do with their car, remember it is theirs...

Im a turbo nut and if he was saying he wanted over 400whp and a lot of other things I would be like turbo all the wa, but he stated that he wanted TVS and 300-350whp. Which is exactly where he will be with the parts he wants. Whats best for you is not what is best for everyone.

Sorry bout kyle selling it before you had a chance to grab it. Im patiently waiting to see his Evo, him and I are going to have fun racing lol.

You nailed it i picked the TVS over the Hahn set up because for the money the TVS was better suited for me. That being said i just drove my buddies 1.8t and i hate not having the power when i need it. It is a nice ride but i just prefer the powerband of the TVS

^ driven the stock turbo, and it might start spooking quickly but there is a tiny bit of boost lag. The SC there is no boost lag. Some will say "your car doesn't make peak horse power right away" well this is true but thats because its still a 4 cylinder and your power band is in the upper rpm range regardless. But as far as boost lag is concerned.... no such thing with a SC and no such thing as a turbo with no boost lag. Yes the turbo car will reel in the SC typically but the driving experience is totally different

Guys, do not turn this into a turbo vs supercharger thread!! Thanks.

Turbo guys need to stop pushing everyone to go turbo, and blower guys need to stop winding up the turbo guys.

I'm so tired of this war between the two forms of forced induction.

O7MetallicSC made this thread about his M62 possibly starting to fail. Lets stay on topic, and help him solve the problem.
