Tial, HKS or???

I know this has been discussed alot and boils down to personal preference, but I'm just looking for your opinions on different types of blow off valves and why you like them.

I am currently running a tial 50mm, i don't like the sound from it and am wondering if other people have experienced this. It sounds like a whip when it lets off, very crisp, but not really in a good way.I have tried a different spring in it but then it just fluttered alot, kinda sounded like a turkey call, lol... .
I only run 9lbs of boost and it's a rather large BOV, i never really plan on running mch more 10 - 12 psi on this car, so... A friend of mine has an HKS ssqv and i like the sound of it more, but he runs alot more boost so i don't know... I am making some changes to my charge air piping and need to decide on a BOV to run.

So anybody experienced in BOV's what do you think, many people say going from a tial to an hks is a major downgrade.

I don't want the thing to sound ricey, but i just don't like the way it sounds right now...

Also thought about the Synapse valve or even the old school hks valve...

I run a Forge BPV that I really like, and it sounds like a BOV cause my intake is only 4" long...

Equal Length Manifold and decent sized turbo means that there really wasn't a lot of room to run an intake. The only reason I have anything on the hose is that I wanted to run the BPV instead of dumping to atmosphere. Essentially, it's four inches of 4" pipe w/ a provision for the BPV return on it and a cut up K&N filter between two screens...

I don't have any good pictures of the intake installed, but I do have a good pic of it off the car:

Front right on the freezer. Sorry, not much on videos either. I'll check around my comp to see if I have a casual driving arou nd video that you can hear better than the other link I have up...

I like the unit and have had no issues w/ creep or flutter or anything else. It's also rebuild-able, which I like a lot! You can kinda see it in the middle of the freezer in the pic. It's black. I'm uploading another video that's even more boring to photobucket, but it's got some decent spots where you can hear it...

I love that manifold, i have a few pics of it saved on my computer, it's quite a piece but totally unnecessary for my build since i'm not going for big power.

Anybody see the new turbonetics BOV, the Duo-35, looks interesting, but can't find much on it, it's very new...

It fits perfect. Best part is that it is cool to the touch after a few hard pulls...

...I heart T304!

OP, sorry for the side-track. Here's the other vid:

I agree, Tial is an amazing brand. I have yet to use one of their blow-off or bypass valves, though, personally...

Well i got the tial cause i wanted the best, it is great quality, i just think it's designed for cars that run alot more boost. This car will never see high boost levels and it sounds kinda funny when it lets off at low boost. not bad, just not what i like. I like the sound of the hks, but not the look of it, i'm planning to move my bov in my piping where you can see it and they do not offer the SSQV in polished, just black and silver. I'm not sure what to do. I might try out the new BOV from turbonetics, it's similar in design to the hks but it fits the current theme of the car better...

people tend to like the greddy also...... you might need a smaller spring for the tial. depending on that your cars vacuum is at idle you need a smaller spring or larger spring

Well it's been on there a while and i can't remeber the spring, but i had a lighter spring and it fluttered bad so i put the next heavier spring in it and it works fine now, i just don't like the sound of it. It souns like a whip. Another member has been wanting to buy my tial since last year when i talked about getting tid of it. Now he is ready to purchase and i don't know what to do...

I actually got turned onto the Forge by the Mazda crowd. I think what sold me was the fact that it's completely rebuild-able and sounds like the Mario coins on MS3's. Too bad it doesn't sound like that on mine...

I don't have a Cobalt turbo, but I do have a VW 1.8t and I am running a Forge BOV that i absolutely love, the sound is great for it...it's loud but not ricer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iELDR4_GE4
video is kinda poor but you get the point...
I have also run a SSQV and it sounds good at 11psi....when it actually works right...that thing has to be absolutely perfect to be functional....I actually lost alot of boost pressure running the ssqv and it sits in my closet for now...

and if you changed springs and got flutter...then your spring is TOO stiff...use the right spring for the boost pressure
