i was just wondering if i did 3" full charge piping other than 2.5"
bigger=better?or worse?
and

i just bought an intercooler with 3" inlet/outlet, does it matter ifi reduce to 2.5" charge piping? or just staywith 3"

just trying to learn more about turbos everyday
thanks

should i gut this? 3" charge piping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...1%7C240%3A1318

or this? 2.5" Charge piping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...1%7C240%3A1318

it depends all on how much boost you push. if your pushin a small amount on such large piping chances are its going to affect the maf some...if your running a moderate amount that size piping then you should be fine..you can always do 2.5 until the last 12-18 inches of piping and make that 3". if i were you id look for the cxracing piping on ebay. highquality and not too expensive

That ebay kit will not work if you have a newer 2008-2009 SS\TC... Good luck if you buy it...

2.5" should be fine, thats what most of us are running. It allows the air to move at a higher velocity so you see boost faster. What you will need to do for the best results(proof from other members) is have 3" piping for the MAF.

actually most kits are not pure bolt on....thats why they make them universal so you can cut what you need, so yes, it will work...in any case he has a s/c...

run 2.5" for the hotside and 3" from the intercooler to the TB. make sure to have the MAF in 3" pipe.

If you are only shooting for 325-350whp you can use 2.25" IC piping. I would run my maf in a 3.5in tube depending on boost level it will max considerably easier in a 3" tube. Just use transition couplers. Then back down to a 2.5", or 2.25" pipe to the throttle body, no bigger.

I have an 05 ion Redline and am doing a turbo swap soon. The only question I have is about the placement of the MAF sensor and should I be using a MAF tube such as the one that can be purchased from ZZP? There is a video on youtube of an lsj turbo conversion and it appears that his MAF has been relocated to the opposite side of the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivCiu.............just wanted to see what had to be done to do this.

Wont work.. two words.. Direct Injection

To the OP, I have done some homework on this and I read somewhere I believe 06blackg85 said you should run 2.5" on the hot side, and the cold side all the way up to the MAF, then expand do 3" and run 3" to the throttle body..
