turbo question

alright guys, im planning on boosting the balt in may. over winter i plan to collect all the parts necessary. next week im going to look at a turbo. it is a garret t3/t4 hybrid 50 trim i belive. doesnt have alot of miles. is there anything i should look for? is finding a manifold/DP going to be hard? by the way i drive an 07 ls coupe 5spd. looking to keep it at 7 psi on stock internals till i upgrade. parts i have so far are glowshift triple pillar, oil gauge, boost/vac. thanks guys

what flange are you talking about that can refer to the dp flange or the manifold flange......
hope you're not paying much for that turbo also lol..at any rate see if the shaft has excess movement that's bout all you can check quickly.

there arent really any "rare" turbo parts. Some may be harder to source but that doesnt mean they are rare.

Dont be fooled. check for shaft play by wiggling the shaft if it moves a lot then its probably bad. side to side is ok if there is a minute amount, if it slides forward and backwards, its bad do not buy it.

You may just want to find an lnf turbo removal from someone who upgraded turbos. Would be cheaper and spool up way quicker than a 50 trim. Def would be all you could run on stock internals.
