Turbo Selection.

What do you guys think of this turbo? Garret T3 50 trim with a .63 A/R turbine housing? Looking for high 3's on pump gas.

should get you there easily...but i dont think your bottom end will be too great with that...its going to be more of an upper powerband turbo i would think.

If it is a straight t3 forget about it. You might get high 2s. If it's a t4 hybrid it would be pretty much what I'm using. My plans are for mid 3's with it.

Maxim, what's the specs of your turbo? I'd imagine you'd be in the 3's easily with a 50 trim.

My bottom end will be getting an overhaul next month.

Also looking to push about 20-21psi or so.

How was your spool time, decent? I hope to have full boost by 4500 at the latest. If not I'll get a 3071 instead.

Probably going to lag like a ************. One of my biggest issues is good power with good spool.

I'm redoing my setup so I can get dyno numbers when done. But, yes, I plan to be in the mid 3's. Mine is an ITS t3/t4 50 trim .48 ar hot side. It will spool full under 3k in 5th gear.

But, the compressor is a t4's compressor because it's a hybrid turbo. That's why I can make that power. If I had a strait t3 50 trim it is a much smaller turbo and it wouldn't make that kind of power. I don't know weather or not you are looking at a hybrid or a strait t3.

At first I was looking at a straight T3. My friend thought the whole time it was a T3/T4 50 trim. When he found out it was a T3 he's like no way those suck haha.

Now i'll be looking at a T3/T4 50 trim, possible slightly bigger A/R than yours. I'm shooting for a solid 390whp or so. Looks like a good choice, especially with the spool time.

Was your full spool based on 5th gear readings too? I know for proper spool time you need a better gear, like 3rd or so.

I don't know what your bugget is but if you are looking for the best in 50trims run the S256, with the .55 a/r that we offer. You get most of your spool from the size of the exhaust A/R and you keep your max flow up and turbine backpressures low by running a bigger exhaust wheel, this is how the S256 is setup. The extended tip flows around 5-6lbs/min more than your standard 50trims. You can make 400whp on pump gas with this turbo easily. The turbine housing is also S.S. the garret or PTE housings are not.
