Is TVS 3.0 much better than stage 2?!
Is TVS 3.0 much better than stage 2?!
I want to get a TVS blower and and the stage 3 kit that comes with it the one with the 80lbs injectors.
When I do get this I will allready have full exhaust and intake.
What Im wondering if this TVS with a 3.0 pulley will even be much faster than my gmpp stage 2 or is the 2500$ spent on the new supercharger just more durable than stock and not much more performance. Or what?
Because if the only reason its so much more expensive than stock ill just buy a stage whatever and wait till the stocker blows up.
So whats the the word stock with very small pulley or TVS with stage 3 from ott?
Remember I dont really care about reliability....

GMS2 can't even compare at all with the TVS. Even low numbers with a TVS should net you at least 280whp. I had GMS2 with a 2.9" pulley and made 255whp which is pretty damn good for a stage 2 tune. I have the TVS with a 2.9 on it and put down 303whp/265wtq with a fairly quick tune. If you have the money and the supporting mods, I say go for it!
Hahn stage 5 does have more potential than the TVS with supporting mods. But my advice to you is to do more research before you make a decision like this or you could end up blowing up your engine. Going from asking a question like is the OTT Stage 2 kit better than the TVS OTT Stage 3 to asking about a complete SC to Turbo conversion shows that you're all over the place. I know you said reliability doesn't matter to you but no one wants to invest thousands of dollars into a car and have it blow up due to lack of knowledge on whatever application they chose to run lol. You'll find many of these answers to your questions on this forum if you search. I recommend doing so and when you make your decision, if you need help then create a thread and the people on here will definitely help you out. Good Luck.

the TVS also seems to only shine in the hands of relatively knowledgeable tuners
if i were you (OP) , id buy supporting mods (80# especially) and run a 2.8 on the m62 with e85.
if thats not fast enough, you can always buy the TVS and you will only be less the cost of a 2.8 inch pulley which im sure you can sell on here relatively easy
Yea I was thinking about doing a big M62 build and trying to hit 300whp with that but without porting the head, it's a massive task. So for the same money (less) than porting the head I got my TVS and life is good!
TVS is definitely a great application to run. Here's some quick info:
-------------------------------
This is a great starting point to upgrade to the TVS supercharger:
1. OTT Stage 3 kit w/ H/E
2. Cold Air Intake
3. Header/ Downpipe
4. 2.5" or 3" exhaust (3" will yield more power)
That's like the base setup just start you off. With just that you're looking at around 300 WHP. If you really are looking for an extremely solid daily driver/performance car and you're not too worried about spending a little money on your car, I would say a great setup would be:
1. OTT Stage 3 Kit w/ H/E
2. Cold Air intake
3. Header/Downpipe
4. 2.5" or 3" Exhaust
5. Dual Pass Endplate
6. Option B Kit
7. Suspension upgrade (SS/TC Struts/Shocks + Pedders Springs = WIN)
8. OTT Rotated Trans Mounts or TTR STOP Mounts
9. Stronger clutch
9. Short Throw Shifter (TWM ftw)
10. Wideband O2 Gauge and Interceptor Gauge (great for monitoring)
Tip: If you're planning on running a 3.0" pulley or smaller (e.g 2.8" or 2.7") . I recommend running a meth kit.
If you do choose to run meth or E85 (E85 is not readily available for most so meth would be a great alternative) AND you choose to drop pulley sizes then you should be looking at solid mid-300's WHP and still be getting great mpg. That setup is just an idea to work with; there's still more you can get but what I listed will provide you a very clean setup with great drivability. If you have more questions there are some great forums that explain more of this in further detail.
*As far as the options for the OTT Stage 3 kit goes:
Yes for the OTT H/E
GM Stage 2 Belt
Your choice on Pulley (3.0" lowest to be ran WITHOUT meth; If running meth a 2.8" would be great but virtually it's up to you)
Rev Limiter: 7200
Torque Management: Removed
NGK 1 Step Colder
--------------------------------
On top of that it would be wise to get a custom tune to get the most gains out of the TVS, and you should be pretty happy with the setup.

Like Billig and BYT said. Completing the TVS swap will be a lot more simpler than doing the complete turbo conversion. Plus almost everyone who has went TVS seems to be more than happy with the performance and upgradability of the application.
tvs stock is putting down more hp than small pulley m62... so pulley down the tvs ad see where that goes. its simple to put in, it changes the entire attitude of the car. you wont be dissapointed at all with this thing
