Twincharge question
Twincharge question
For those of you who are twincharged and or are familiar with these systems. I was wondering in the precharge stage of the system what is the boost of the charge air?
Is the pre-charge system by-passed? Or does the by-pass system on the secondary SC
handle the by-passing, So when the in the non torque damand state is in efect you are operating under vacumm even though the pre-charge air is boosted? Does that make sense what I'm asking?

....im a little lost, but i think i can answer your question anyway.
SC=supercharger and TC=turbocharger
under load, the SC will build boost until X rpm is reached (or until X boost level is reached, depending on how you tuned it all ). Once that X value is reached, the TC is making all the boost for the engine, and the SC's bypass valve is open, so the air is NOT being compressed a second time.
under light load/idle, the bypass on the SC is open, so no boost is made, and there isnt enough exhaust gas to spool the turbo, so no boost is made their either.
make sense?
