Well if you care about your warrenty, get GM STAGE II. You'll be happy you did. IF you want more power and don't care about warrenty go with a kit from another company. I would recommend the Rebel Autowerks stage kit.

The stage kits from other sites claim more power, but be careful because you'll void the warranty for those specific parts, anything you leave stock will be covered still. That's the big advantage of the Stage 1 (236 HP) and Stage 2 (241 HP) kits from GM. You can get the GM Stage 2 for about $550 from Crate Engine Depot, which is where I got mine, and it's the cheapest I've found, and then use the extra $250 for other things.

The stage 3 is nice too, but even though GM provides it, it voids your ENTIRE warranty (I think it's stated that way at least, correct me if I'm wrong anyone )

If you don't care about the warranty, by all means go with the stage kits that Cobalt Addiction or another site offers. Just make sure you do your homework first (I have the GM kit, so someone else who went with the stage kits elsewhere will have to tell you how they like it).

It all depends on what you want to do with the car cause there are going to be soon procharger kits, twinscrew kits and turbos kits so a stage kit will be a waste of money if you wanna go big

The engine should do fine unless you go nuts on it, I know some other members are running those aftermarket stage kits, I doubt most of them would blow up your engine or really ruin it. Yes, the GM stage kits were tested and approved by GM, but the LSJ is sufficiently strong enough to hold more power than the GM stage kits make. One weak spot is the pistons (If I remember right, GM recommends swapping them for forged ones if you start pushing 300 HP, but I hear that's playing it safe). We also have an odd downpipe, changing that out has worked well for people.

Just some food for thought while you're pondering a stage kit, have fun!
