A while ago....(A cobalt turbo project)

A while ago we were gonna come out with a turbo system for the 2.2L & 2.4L. We had a REAL rough mock up system, and it was ok. The turbo we make responds very well for 2.2-2.4L engines like the Cobalt with a short redline. We did not think the demand, at the time, was not there....so we scrapped it. Well, low and behold, anyone looking for this turbo to use as a GREAT power making foundation, we have 5 on the shelf. It is all Turbonetics parts, but custom selected and assembled by us.

In response to the whole bunch of PMs I got, we do not have a kit. The price of $799 is just for the special turbo we built.

PM me if anyone wants the custom blend.

I think you guys should keep the Turbos and make kits for our cars. You would be making the Cobalt Community soo much happier.

This turbo is good for 300-350HP.

It is not so good in 1st. 2nd gear you will see boost in the high RPMS (2-3 PSI), 3rd boost at 3000 RPMS, 4th 2300 RPMS, 5th 1800 RPMS. This turbo responds very well to the 2.2-2.4Ls and spools up great and packs a lethal punch in the midrange and top end.

The turbo is pretty efficient until about 22 PSI.

Cost will be $799.00

Any more Q's, lemme know.

There is no system. We just are selling turbos we spec'd specifically for these cars.

I also want to know the specs of the turbo. Seems ike it might be a little big if your only getting 2-3 psi in the high RPMs of first gear.

Not at all. It's T3 footed. Turbos are load dependent and 1st never has that much load. 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th are your $$ gears.

The turbo is a T3/T4B with our custom blend wheels on it.

I think you should, since I for one would want to turbo my 2.2 someday, and if you were to make a kit, I may have to bust out the bigger credit card, LOL!!

Well if we had a pre-order for the kits, a small down deposit (non-refundable) and a 2.2L or 2.4L in the GA area, we can do it.

how do you have this information if you say you don't have a kit for the car? if you tested it, you must have fabricated something up to run this turbo on the ecotec motor. the main concern for a turbo setup is the problem of dealing with the ecu. if that problem can be solved (and it looks like HPTuners is on their way toward this), then turbo kits will be flying around like intakes.

just a thought:
the GM race cobalt was turbocharged and had some ridiculous power. if someone can find out what kind of engine management they used, the information would be extremely helpful to many members here.

I believe all of them use Haltech Full Standalone unit. Haltech is an Australian based company.

Cause it's a full standalone unit...

You're talking about taking out the OEM computer and wiring everything back up to the Haltech Unit. Also, full standalone units offer full control over every aspect but usually cost in the range of thousands of dollars. This is why HP Tuners is so useful, you can change whatever you want without taking anything out.
