Your right but its up to the dealership to decide if they want to do it. Ive already heard some dealerships won't even touch it.

Go to your local dealership and talk with the parts manager and ask him to punch in the part number for the kit. He will probably make a stupid face then ask him if hes willing to install... Any dealership will do.

Also, the new bolts for the, pulley to hub, are tamper resistant.

I say that GM thought this through. They knew that others are out there making pullies and such for these motors. They know that someone out there is gonna hurt a motor with a smaller pulley and try a switch-a-roo back to their pulley and say 'well I didnt do anything to it but drive it..' ,or something like that...I just appreciate GM doing something for these cars.

anyone tried it out yet???

Hey, my SS/SC is only about a month old and I'm seriously considering getting the stage II so that all the RSXs and Type Rs will respect my authoritah! Anyone actually have one on yet? 40hp is a big boost. Is that a realistic gain? I'm only interested in hearing from those that actually have one on their SS/SC. Also, where is the best place to go pricewise?? I'm psyched!!!

We were all pumped for a 40hp boost but so far its not looking like 40 more like 25hp. But so far there hasnt been enough ppl with stage kits to get a average feel for the gains. I was hoping to make 250hp with stg2 and I'll have to wait an see. I probly dyno at the end of the month beginining of may.

Kit Expected Wednesday...

Once the kit is installed, we will have ours dyno'd to display the results, in the showroom, with the car. It will be bone stock, except for the Stage 2 kit, and will have less than 250 miles on the odometer. I'd love to have a before and after but squeezing $75 from the sales department for an after is hard enough!!!

u mean a before dyno? Honestly I think the after will be fine we all have a good idea of what dyno numbers most cobalts have to average it out would be around 215 hp.

BTW I also get my stg2 weds

Before and After...

I'm not as worried about the car as much as I am the dyno. I'd ideally want to know exactly what the stage 2 kit will do as a % increase. Results change from dyno to dyno. A before and after pull on the same dyno is the best way to get real numbers. I'd love to see 250, wheel horsepower, with no other modifications.

Down Here My Dealer Isnt Selling Stage 2 Without Buying Stage 1 Separately First. I Thinks Its Another B/s Way Of Stabbing Me On Labor. They Have Me At 3+ Hours Labor Each Upgrade. They Said That Stage 2 Will Not Be Sold As Stage 2 And Will Only Be Available As An Upgrade For Stage 1. In Other Words You Cant Just Go In And Upgrade To Stage 2 Right Off The Bat. Anyone Else Have Any Info ,id Love To Hear It.

Need some advice on this..

I have called some dealers down here and they all quoted me the $750 for the stage II. I am not from here (Tulsa) and dont know where to go or if it is worth tring to talk them down or just go else where. Many people on here seem to be getting it much cheeper than what I am finding. Any advice. P.S. this is the worst city in the U.S. these people are nuts down here.

Stage 1, Stage 1-2 upgrade, Stage 2...

We are not trying to "rip anyone off"!

The stage 2 kit (PN#17803229) is not available as of now, but will be available soon for $750. Stage 1 (PN#17801947) is $500 and is basically injectors and a PCM update. The "upgrade " kit (PN#17803230) is $400 and is the pulleys, belt and another PCM upgrade. The only way to upgrade AT THIS TIME is the Stage 1 AND Upgrade to Stage 2. If you want to wait... WAIT! If not, come off the extra $150 and get it now!!!

You have to pay to play...

Stage 2 Kit

Everyone here post how good this kit really is. To give you an idea it is better than any posting I have seen yet. The only problem is no one knows the cost to install this kit and what is involed in it. I had to install one and our labor rate was 2hours above what warranty is to replace all the items in the stage2 kit that was at 7hours. This is the complete install with full factory warranty. The parts run approx. $750 and labor of $595.00. this of course is if the gaskets do not need replacing which can happen. If anyone in the SAN DIEGO area needs this done bring your car to City Chevrolet once we getr the parts it takes one day to get done. Once this is done you will love the power it gives
