never said it was faster.. my mistake.. the old 2.4L made 160 hp and the 2.2L ecotec made 150hp... your gf had, what is now a 14 yr old car.. i believe they phased that motor out of the cavaliers and used it in the grand prix's.. i was speaking current when the transition started to take place of getting rid of the old style 2.4L
yeah i think the silverado could be worth of an SS badge with a blower though, i mean none of the other fast truck have came with four wheel drive which would make that truck utterly sick! but its just way under powered to compete with an SRT10. personally i think stick with the impala, monte carlo, silverado, an SS/SC cobalt, everything else is just plain obnoxious
I think some are missing the big picture. Saying that only the SS/SC deserves the SS emblem is like saying the SS350s of old shouldn't have had the SS badges -- only the SS454s should have had them. The SS badge denotes a performance version of a particular model. Performance not only of the straight line variety but also pylon racing, road racing, etc. I can assure you, there were Malibus in the old days that came with 350 4-barrel carbs that would wip the crap out of an SS350 car. Those Malibu owners just knew how to properly order a car with the right combination of parts.

okay, lets break this down.
number one, the malibu nameplate has as much right to an SS model as any other. most chevelle SS cars were just stripped out malibus, but you could order both the malibu and SS packs on the chevelle, if you liked.
saying that the number of doors matters is just silly. or that there can't be a wagon.
you COULD call the 2.4 the RS, but that would be silly. tradition follows RS and SS both being only appearance groups.
the first car to have the super sport name was a corvette, so get off of that one as well. the reason it may never be called an SS is because that super sport corvette is A car, one car. and chev might not want to tarnish that. they may call it a grand sport, however.

i think the Cobalt SS N/A should just be called Sport. if they came out with the Z24 im sure you will here a ton of morons saying something like oh its back to the shity cavalier names. or something gay like that. so i think Sport is the best one for it.

Its all so stupid arguing about this; the V8 guys hate seeing 4-cyls with the SS badge, the SS/SC guys hate seeing the 2.4 cars with the SS badge, and everyone hates the Malibus with the SS badge. Its like everyone's manhood is being threatened whenever a "less-deserving" car is badged as an SS. I suppose next we'll be having posts calling for non-appropriate SSs to be recalled and re-badged as RS or whatever.

Ya the 2.4SS probably will be worth something one day... if they are kept all stock
But i think the SS should only be put on the top of the line cars in a company, and not just a top of the line car in a model.
And also there are way too many models of cars anyway, like when the Cobalt first came out it was like the base, LS, sedan, and SS... then the next year there was LT and LZ and all this other stuff, i think that makes it too confusing to consumers...
