Official CobaltSS.net Member’s Review: Tokyo Drift Movie
That movie was EXTREMELY Homersexual to borrow a Simpsons reference. It was like Forrest Gump goes to Tokyo. I'm not into import cars so about the only cars I really liked were in the first racing scene. HATED the Mustang. That's just...someone needs their ***** cut off for that. Who the **** puts a Skyline motor in an American muscle car. They should burn in hell.
The rest seemed like live-action Initial D. Maybe it's because I don't like drift "racing" or whatever, but I just didn't like the movie. Plot sucked, characters sucked, but it was funny watching Brad from Home Improvement trying to race a Viper. Would have been better if they'd brought back his parents too.
The first one was the only one I semi-enjoyed. 3 was bad, but better than the 2nd one - 2F2F was completely unwatchable.

I agree on the Mustang too. The fart-pipe hanging off the back was the finishing touch. Although, if they were going to bastardize an American muscle car, at least they used a Ford! Stupid no matter what, though.
So, who's gonna be our new Drift King?!?

actually there was another skyline in the movie it was in the scene were they were four cars drifing up the mountain It was a silver car first, the 94 rx7 light blue ,red skyline and then a blue skyline
I had high expectation for this movie. The cool factor was just not there. I was pumped after the intro sequence where that kick ass monte carlo races that jock in the viper. That was amazing. It all goes down hill when that kid moves to japan. There was nothing funny in the movie...no ribbing amongst characters at all. Tyrese was hilarious in the second, and those classic lines in the first like, "more than you can afford pal, FERRARI", "find another way home pizza boy, street's closed", "Why don't you try Fat Burger from now on? You can get yourself a cheese and fries for 2.95, ******! I like the tuna here. Bullshit *******, no one likes the tuna here! Yeah well I do."
TD was a horrible movie with a plot that sucked. Buddy gets to Japan and the second day he's already drifting agains the DK. And the WORST part of all, they put a friggin nissan engine in a classic fastback mustang with a friggin fart pipe. Now, I don't mind if people throw them on a civic, but putting one on Mustang is just ridiculous. The ending was the worst. Buddy pulls up beside Vin Diesel. I thought at this point the movie would redeem itself...but no such luck. The just fade to the credits. Nothing to anticipate at all from that ending. And how does that kid just race the DK and win respect from the Yakuza uncle. I laughed when the uncle goes, "you are free to go." WHY is he free? Some of the 350Z's were nice, and the monte carlo and the viper, and that orange car that I had not clue what it was, but the movie left me wanting more. 2F2F topped it off with the hundreds of cars in the scatter sequence as did F&F1 with the initial street race with hundreds of cars there two. Seemed like they had less of a budget for this movie. For the record, I loved the first two movies, this one was just boring and stupid, no matter how good the few drifting sequences were.

Oh, and they shoulda put Rhys Millen in there somewhere with a gto (the driver of the drifting GTO and the stunt driver in the movie). That woulda been a cool cameo that woulda worked cause that movie was cheesy to begin with.
I thought it was better than the second one. One thing i noticed is that there were alot of 350Z's in the movie.
And one more thing, there were no Cobalt SS/SC in the movie.

I saw the movie on friday and to my surprise like some it was pretty damned good and I hate to say it I think it s better than the first one. I liked the first and second was ok just because I like the evo in it. I went to this movie expecting the worst with lucus black and bow wow playing it I thought it would be crap.
At first watching the tralers I thought the scene with the 350z going up the parking lot was fake then I read about the movie and they used D1 professional drifters for all the stunts none of the driving was cgi only some of close ups and green screen with the actors but other than that all the driving you see is real even the scene with the with the drifting up the mountain the driving is real just the background was giving an enhancment.
I love drifting and so do many of my friends so we alll had the same thought this was going to be crap, but they exicuted it quiet well. I havent seen a movie that got me completly into the movie since i saw spider man on opening day.
The movie had a plot and the cars were sexy as well as the girls (I cried in the scene with what happens to the rx7 & han).
The only problem I had with the movie is that I wanted to see the AE86 race Han mentions it in the movie as getting the car for sean it would have been better if he would have used that car to learn to drift first then move up to the evo 9 (which is better at drifting because it is AWD but they did convert it to RWD for the movie..sad also the skyline is AWD but did also convert to RWD..sad again) Also to many damned 350z fairladys in the movie
I really enjoy it I recommend it to everyone. Its better than the others. I will go watch it again.
Oh yeah and this isnt intial d knock off check out the movie not the cartoon initial d to its pretty cool but you need subtitlles. the REAL DRIFT KING is in the movie he plays the old fisher man when sean is learning to drift in the evo. Thats Keiichi Tsuchiya he was assitant in the movie tokyo drift and he is the one who made drifting popular in Japan he is the guy in the AE86 that INITIAL D is based off of.

Also D.K is not yakuza his uncle is if you really watched the movie Han makes that statment. Thats why D.K doesnt have crazy tattos also in Japan now since Yakuza is associated with tattoos they really dont do that anymore they either cover themselves up or dont have tattoos where is shows to not give themselves away. and yeah they do dress in suits and all black.
i give it a 8 1/2 out of 10 stars

no power
I just read this months sport compact car and they had dyno tests for the cars in the new f and f movie. They all are kicking less than 200 hp except for the 350z which still less than the C6 vette. Imports suck and they cheat.
I saw it and I def liked it, the acting was cheesy to say the least, but the cars were friggin amazing. Some of it was a little over the top, liek the crazy huge wings and graphics (DEF nto my thing) but I have a soft spot for a lot of those Japanese rocket ships, especially the Silvia (buying a 93' 240sx in a couple weeks, lol). The action sequences were damn good, and crashes are always fun, lol.

It was alright. We chose to see it during matinee times so we could save money...lol My fiance loved the "RMR" sticker on the hood of the evo (or whatever the hell that was)
I loved the end with Vin of course. I think their may be a 4th....but who knows.
I also loved the fact that they gave Bow Wow the worst name (Twinkie) and the worst car.

no they suck because without any power adder of any kind, my Big Block's starter has more tq then they can hope for... OOOOWWWWWWWNNNDDDD
oh and I almost forgot, they say "NAWWS" because some freaking actor thought it would be could to pronounce "N. O. S. " as NAAWWWSS...
after reading the reviews I shall go see this shinding just to have a good laugh...the first 2 cracked me up, and I was highly entertained...

I saw tha movie saturday. I liked it. I saw tha first one. I liked it though it gave true tuners a bad name. I liked tha second one for tha comedy and Skyline. But I liked tha 3rd most of all. I wish it would've gone more in depth with tha Japanese drift world instead of on that country boy. Funny shi though, when I left the theatre, there was a guy in a f-150 burnin out and stuff in tha parkin lot. At tha light he screamed out H-town baby! Then burned out around the corner, spun out, went on tha curb and had to back out. Then when he tried to proceed down tha street, a cop on foot stopped him, then a unmarked police truck pulled in front of him, then a squad car came from behind, and then they yanked him out of his pos Ford and thru him on tha ground. Goin to jail!!! Luckily, I'm a bit smarter than tryin to smoke my $680 tires after a movie like that.
i liked the movie. like alot of people are saying the first one is still the best the second sucked ass but this wasnt that bad alot of cool stunts too much drifting i know its called tokyo drift but how many times have you seen a high speed chase through the city were the cars are doing nothing but drifting c'mon, other then that i really liked the movie plus vin diesel came back thats cool....worth the time and money

def the the best of all 3 of the movies, i dont even consider the 2nd one part of the three, the orginal f and f wasnt all that bad, just some bad acting, but nice cars......so my response to tokyo drift is kick ass and def 2 thumbs up.
I really liked the movi, the first race was awsome(I actually had a guy throw a rock through my rear window, but i didnt race him, i kicked his ass.) but the race at the very end really surprised me. and by the way to the guy who said something about the nephew not being the D.K., the statement made was about the japaneese mafia not the drift underworld. but neway ill give it 8 out of 10
I liked it, it was a good movie in general. Acting could have been tightened up a bit, but for the most part it was good'n. Cars were... iffy, I don't like how every one of them had crazy ass body kits and 20 pounds of stickers. Yes there were to many friggin 350Zs, not enough... stuff becides 350Zs!!! I also think it was stupid when that kid was crashing his dads viper into the kids car, what freakin idiot would do that to a viper! The race in the end was pretty cool, the mustang was pretty cool... lookin except for that gay fartcan stickin out the back!
I give it 8 out of 10

Shut up! Here's the Spec's of the cars

i bought the magazine with the car specs in them. the lowest horsepower car was the turbo RX8 at 191rwhp. they said it had obviously been ridden hard and put up wet, many many times.
heres the specs -
Mitsubishi Evo IX w/ rwd conversion -
289.5hp
289.5TQ
Nissan 350Z TT -
430.3HP
413.3TQ
Veilside Mazda RX-7 -
305.7HP
256TQ
(i have the magazine with this car when it first came out from Veilside. they tested it.... SEXY AS HELL!)
VW R32 w/RWD conversion -
210.9HP
208.2TQ
Toyota Chaser (factory 1JZ-GTE) -
248.8HP
250TQ
Mustang GT-R (only one built with an RB26DETT) -
340.2Hp
264TQ
Mazda RX-8 -
191.4HP
186.7TQ
they said the RX-8 had obviously had the **** run out of it before it was brought to them. with a little R&R and cash it would be a nice car, but would probably be crushed.
the Veilside RX-7 they said did good, but it didnt hit 150TQ until 3950RPM and then it still has to spin those 19" wheels. the magazine said, and i quote " Given some TLC and careful calibration, there's a 500hp 13B to be had from this setup"
all in all the cars were nice. almost all were JDM sourced. for those of you that have seen the movie, Rhys Millen did the drifting of the 350Z in the very first race where he drifts around the really really tight spiral. they said he did it over, and over, and over and never damaged the car. he is good.....

I saw it. I got my moneys' worth. I wasn't expecting an academy award, but I was entertained.
if you've got nothing better to do, go see it and follow it with X-Men 3.

Thats not quite right there is an inline 6 that volvo made in the 90's it was in their 960
by the way it wasnt a bad movie if your into the drifting scene and there were a couple of good actual racing scenes. does not compare with the first one but I thought it was worth the money to see it. oh but there are no colbalt's.
