hyper mileage project!
hey i have a 2010 cobalt lt 4 door. i drove to omaha from pensacola and spent $160 on gas (1300 miles there). my dash said 460 a tank and 45mpg average. i just got a gmpp exhaust system. not complete. it came from a 2 door so its not long enougg need pipe extended and im having it welded to the cat because the bolts wont stay in.(horrible exhaust leaks) no other mods but i saw 480 miles to the tank with the incomplete exhaust. im aiming for 500+ miles to the tank.
mods considered-
2.4 tb
zzp CAI
pedders lowering springs(reduce air getting under the car to reduce drag)
lighter wheels
tune
would trifecta help? what about headers? i heard they lean out the exhaust gases and dont benefit mpg. i was looking at zzp long tubes to go with the gmpp system. money isnt really an isse due to im saving up
getting all the parts and putting on all at once. would ported head be better? 2.4 ontake plenum?

Ummm coupe and sedan exhaust are exactly the same, it shouldnt be short.
maybe the ZZP intake tube with a K&N Drop in.
lighter wheels will always work, anything that is unsprung is a huge loss
and a tune could do you some good.
a header would be fine, i wouldnt go with a Longtube if youre going for mileage. a LTH is most efficient in higher RPM's

I know the numbers seems ficticious but they are true. I had cruise set at 65-70 the whole 1300 miles. I don't understand it due to everybody else's average mpg posts. but they are true. ill try to get pics.

I'm not sure if the coupe was 09-10 style or if I was missing parts. I bought it barely used from a friend for $100. so shorties for mpg?

forced induction question
would a Turbo actually increase gas mileage? it sure killed the mileage I'm my old ls swapped boosted civic. if so would smaller Turbo be better or like a gt30 so I'd hardly hit boost?

when i would make the trip to and from Penn State (3 hrs and around 180 miles) my 2007 LS, manual, only current performance mod is GMPP exhaust, and the highest mileage i got was 44.6 according to the DIC. i'm sure with cruise control i could get a little more but unfortunately i don't have cruise. and believe it or not these motors love warmer weather (between 65 and 80) for the best mileage
and the GMPP exhaust should bolt right up and it should be in 3 pieces, also go with a K&N intake and then see what your mileage is. if you need more then go for a tune

then I'm missing a part lol. I got the part that connects to the cat. the part that bends through the suspension and a tip. damn! only payed $100 for it though so no complaints. is the 2.4 Plenum worth the trouble or just get the 2.4tb?
