K&N Replacement filter Difference?

Has any one put in a K&N Replacement filter and see a difference?
I am not talking about Short ram or CAI, Just the replacement.

Better Gas Mileage?
Little better response?

Do you have pictures of your modded air box?
How much did it cost to make?

Doesn't cost a thing, you take out the airbox silencer underneath the headlight.

As Clifton stated, it didnt cost me a thing I done it myself. Sorry I dont have any pictures but its fairly straight foward, depending on how wild you want to "mod" your airbox. Theres how to's in the forums on exactly how to do it.

Changing the air filter won't help your gas mileage at all.

...replacing a clogged air filter on cars with fuel-injected, computer-controlled gasoline engines does not improve fuel economy but it can improve acceleration time...

What model Cobalt do you own?

If it's an SS/SC, I have a picture of my modified airbox I can send you.

2006 SS 2.4L (LE5) 130,000KM MODS : Drop in air filter.

I have the replacement filter in now.... I just bought this and waiting for it to come in, - LE5 High Flow Intake Tube #06-02-00690

My boyfriend will install he says. Also he will take out the sound reducer thing on the underside of the stock air box.

He says he do pictures. and vids before and after.

To add to the "do you notice a difference with stock air intake with drop in filter" Yes you do feel a little bit of a foot response. Fuel mileage is back to normal.

I can't wait for the tube to come in.

I ordered a Custom decal for the back of my car. "ownedbyagirl?" LOL Pink with shine gems so it will sparkle. LOL

Ohhh....

I thought you were talking about an SS/SC.

I modified my buddy's airbox on his 2.2. He said he noticed a little more pep, and a little better mileage.

no offense obag - but that is a pricey little airbox part...
Have you already ordered it?
> did you look for something like that locally?

A local was rear ended early this year, and his car was written off;
last I heard his car was in a local yard unpicked... it too was a 2.4L/automatic
iirc he had a CAI, shorty header, aftermarket downpipe...

a K&N drop in is a no-lose part to buy ~ but if you go to the dealer for service work, expect to get some static for having it.

Kris's car is not in a self serve yard.

his car had some seriously choice parts on it...

but some of this is going to be a huge waste of money if you're just going to go to a supercharger setup...

I would encourage you to not buy parts which become redundant...
I would also suggest that doing choice modifications to your car without going supercharged would probably make you plenty happy.

Yea. I installed a K&N drop in 2 days after purchasing my SS/SC back in 07'.

I had some warranty work done not to long after, and they didn't say one thing about it.

I was gonna post that obag was a good one, but now I see it's just an acronym. Too bad. Heh. Good luck with your lame decal obag...

I haven't noticed any difference in milage but I have a heavy foot.

look at the local girl with pink on her wheels & whatnot...
she's been made fun of here for it...
(which is probably why she doesn't post much)

$144+sh for the tube and coupler? I got the same setup (Spectre) from AutoZone for less then $100 though you have to cut a few inches of tubing for fitment. Then again I'm gonna get the drop in to compliment the MBE catted dp.

ZZP has a 3inch plastic tube that goes from the Tb to the stock are flow box. Put in a K&N drop in filter and took out the bong air silencer and presto ..... amazing the diffrence.

With a tune its night and day... Gonna be doing full exhaust soon

edit:
$140 for everthing

Made a slight difference on my SS/SC. Better throttle response and slightly better mpg. Not much tho. Buying a CAI kit does a lot more.

Have had the K&N Drop in on my SS/TC for the past 8000km and notice 0 difference from OEM filter. Same sound, same mpg, same power. Only difference is re-cleaning vs buying new (OEM).
