low mpg
Hey forum, just curious if maybe anyone had some advice for me.
So I drive a 08 Cobalt Sport, still completely stock and I only get 21-23mpg. I'll admit I don't drive the best in town, always taking off at lights, but my buddy has a 06 SS and he drives it WAY harder than I drive mine, and gets 26-30.
Also we take the same road to get to our jobs (highway) and 90% of the time I just cruise control at 68/69 mph.
Could there actually be something wrong?

remember, your engine will always work harder then his, so it's not uncommon, I ride my gears and like to get hugged by the car when the lights turn green, and I see 28-33 avg...

Well, 9 out of ten times you can get better mileage by adjusting your tire pressure and/or replacing tires that are worn OR more than three years old (check the manufacture date on the sidewall not the date you had them installed) other factors include worn shocks/struts which in a newer car is unlikely, but you should have your alignment checked, even if it's not off that bad, for sixty bucks you can make that up at the pump in a couple months, and it'll save on tires and component wear.
Other things you should check, jack up each axle put everything in neutral/parking brake off and roll each tire by itself check for binding, should feel little resistance. Finally every 50 or so pounds you carry without increasing your tire pressure to compensate can take .2 or more off your mileage. Transmission fluid condition can affect mileage as well, even where you get your gas. Anywho, good luck.
