Personal Best 37mpg '10 SS
So I have been trying to eek out every last mile per gallon I could in my ss/tc and on this tank I have achieved by 2mpg the best fuel economy I have ever pulled, 37.0mpg on the dot. 451.6 miles and 12.21 gallons pumped (rounded up to the next whole dollar as always).
I quit coasting downhill in neutral and just left it in gear, accelerated never getting into boost while not getting over 3500rpm, and always cruised at the limit. Not doing my daily wrap out of 3rd gear on the on ramp heading into work also helped . Tires (stock conti's) at 40psi
I am pretty sure that this is the absolute best I can do without going 5mph under everywhere.

I use cruise control most of the time but turn it off while coasting downhill just to make certain the car isn't burning fuel (paranoia about trusting the ecm programming). My non freeway content is 25% of the drive as calculated by Google Maps but to give you a better idea of what is going on in the non highway end I drive 1.5 miles down a level road @35mph to start, make 3 other stops over 3 miles, then drive 9 miles @45mph on an essentially level road with no stops until I get to the on ramp and then drive the rest of the way into work on the highway. I get off of the highway and drive < 3 miles to the shop. Now that I look at the numbers its probably closer to 30% non highway mix but still, the route has proven in other vehicles to require the least fuel in comparison to how a GoogMaps or non lifetime residents of the home town would drive it.

I am confident that this was what gave me the edge over my previous best tank mileage of 35.1mpg and i just read it in a forum sticky... I have a lot of hills on my route and from years of driving and kicking out of gear it has taken some reprogramming of the habits in that regard. I mean not wrapping out 3rd gear daily probably helped a bunch too but on this tank I am going to confirm how much extra burn was done by the on ramp behavior by going back to the old habit of neutral with the downhills (lots of long ones). Then again I want to make sure the turbo does get spooled up

Excellent MPG! Best I have done so far is a tad over 30 in my bone stock ss/sc with a drop in k&n filter. Mostly highway miles for me but where I live if your not doing 75 you'll get ran over.

nice the most i ever got out of my 09 ss sedan was 411 miles to a tank which is pretty damn good being tuned, it was when i was driving from colorado to seattle
cruise set at 80-85
ive had the DIC read 37.3 mpg avg while driving from everett to tacoma at 65 with cruise on, but i dont think its correct lol

If you have a lot of hills, you'll be able to do even better if you leave the cruise control turned off. Speed up slightly when going down hills, and slow down slightly when going up hills. Give that a shot and see how it affects your fuel economy.
