Terrible gas mileage!!

Ok, lately ive been getting absolutely terrible gas mileage! it shows i get 18 miles per gallon!! i think it started happening after i put my new rims and tires on. i recently put 17s on with bfg kdw tires. also my light for the tire pressure sensor is on. could that be the problem?

did you put the sensors back in the wheels? thats would cause the light to come on.

The winter mix gas will net in a 10% or so loss in milage. Keep your tire pressures up, and all the normal jazz

For winter the oil companies make a different mix when they produce the Gasoline. if you really want to know read this

Are you using your defrost more now than you were prior by chance?

Hmm well I thought the mileage difference was due to things like warm up taking longer (richer fuel mixture for longer), and the atmosphere is more dense. More o2=more gas for stoich.

Oh well i could be wrong.

mileage

if you changed the rim size, the computer is calibrated for a specific size and thats what it goes off of for you fuel mileage computer, soif you changed tire or rim size your computer would be off try calculating it the old fasioned way by filling it up to full, setting the trip, driving it for awile and filling it back up again and dividing it by the mileage you accumulated and the gallons that you had to replace. and see if it ising off a gallon or two? could be and also winter mix gas sucks.

If your rim size is off, your Trip/speed/odo wil all be off...
and consequenctly it would be off the same ammount but by a %
So even if you do the fill up reset and math you should STILL get
close to the # on the display.

I just got back from a long trip this weekend. I averaged 32.5 mpg on the highway today, with my winter tires. Before I was getting only about 20 mpg, and that's mostly highway going to work. The temps have been warmer (around 32), opposed to the single digits and teens. The bitter cold must really decrease the gas mileage.
