05' ss vs 08'-10' ss Ups and downs of each?

Now I know this may be very broad. But let me try to narrow it down a little.
What are the best parts about having an 05 sc over an 08 tc. Are either one cheaper to upgrade/maintain. Is it fairly easy to top out over 300 hp on both of these cars even though the 05 stock is lower in horsepower.

If so. How much in upgrades would it cost to push the 05 into the 300s vs the 08-10.

Or any reason why you guys might like either the LSJ or LNF more im sure this has been talked about before on here but can't seem to find a direct comparison of the two cars.

People can get your 08-10TC to 300whp with just a tune and better map sensors depending on how aggressive they are. LSJ is older and it seems those are always beaten on, at least here anyway. Plus an LSJ is much harder to get to 300whp.

Ahh. I've been seeing that with the dynos I've been watching of the 05s with so much done to them to only come to about 280 hp.

LNF has stiffer suspension/crossmembers and handles better and has better axels stock over the LSJ.

Yes the tc is better stock but if your going to mod the car I don't think a lsj would be bad choice depending on mileage ect.if your intentions are going to put work in to your car then you can make the lsj just as nice as the tc. Honestly the value of both suck lol so I'd just pick up a tastefully modded tc and call it a day.

Honestly, this is just a pot stirrer thread. It doesn't matter what you say these threads always end up with LSJ guys bashing LNF guys or the other way around. It's all up to your end goal. Are you going to work on your car yourself? Are you knowledgeable of either type of set up? Is this going to be your daily?

I don't think lsj guys bash on the lnf it's just that lnf just say the tc hands down. Yes the Tc is better put together but I don't think lnf guys give enough credit to the potential that the lsj has.

I think if your not mechanically incline and don't feel confident in putting parts on yourself , your better choice is the lnf

This.

If it gets to that bye bye thread.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but both can be made into great cars.

Neither is really better when it comes down to it, it's all what you prefer.

Well the 08 is a bit more refined like others have said on the suspension part, some other different things is the steering wheel, seats, wheels, radio well of course to the 05. It's going to come down what do you want a turbo or a supercharger. The other thing would be if your set on 300 the lnf will get you there faster but the lnf is a couple of grand higher than the lnj so what you spend on the lnf you could mod the lsj

Personally if I were to purchase a Cobalt SS now, I'd look for a stock 2010 SS/TC.

My only reason for this is because it's the newest available Cobalt, and chances are you will find one in better condition than an 11 year old 05' SS/SC.

I was fortunate enough to purchase my 07' SS/SC brand new, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but in your situation buying used, I would take extra precaution.

Lots of kiddies mod these cars wrong and beat on them.

That is very true. And that is why I am trying to be catious and figure out what to look out for. Before I decided to start looking at these beauties. I was looking at 2002 z28 Camaro. But I've come to the conclusion I can't afford maintaining a v8 as of right now. Besides. These things could easily be faster than the z28 😜.

Now how much on average would someone be spending on a 2010 with avid mileage. 50-100k miles ?

Luckily I found a stock one owner SC but it had higher miles (133k) when I got it. It's been a good car but I had to fix all the "common GM issues". I enjoy it. It gets good gas mileage and it's fun to drive. It reminds me of my old sentra se-r but with mo powa.

I honestly wouldn't know what other car I would get that's better than the cobalt In its class from 05 to 2010 lol my fully bolted lsj puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. So the bottom line is you will have fun regardless which one you choose, just take your time choosing one

I have had both a 06 LSJ and now a 09 LNF. They are about the same to maintain money wise, but obviously the older the car the more wear and tear its gonna have. (suspension, maybe timing chain) It really comes down to what you want to spend. If you have any questions ill answer them. I bought my 09 with just over 60k for 8700.

That's about the price range im looking at. As im 19 and am currently going to college. I would be taking a loan out. But I have 4k saved. I think the max Id be able to do. And afford. Would be 10. But the lower the better ! There are tons of 06 07 ones for sale near me. Some 05s. And no LNFs.

I looked at both when i was buying my car right out of college. I bought an LSJ because i got a hell of a deal on it. Ive spent a mild chunk of change with Powell and ZZP on it, but at the same time i really enjoy it. I bought the car bone stock and have done all the mods myself. Granted at this point i could have just bought an LNF and dollar for dollar made more power for less money, but im proud of it. Lotta good times, both wrenching, cruising, and racing.
