06 Monte Carlo/Impala

Check this out.

Chevy's got them up on their website
http://www.chevrolet.com/upcoming/

Look at the wheels on the SS models.....look very similar to the Cobalt SS wheels........

The restyled Impala is reminding me of the Ford 500, especially from the front.
The interiors look great on both . And I've got no complaits with the 303Hp V8

Yea I saw them the other day, the Malibu was also restyled. The power outputs are getting better with GM, along with their facelifts of the vehicles, do I see an American Revolution ?

I am losing faith in chevy. They come out with something awesome but then they come out with 2 things that look like crap. the monte is only redisigned in the front end and its not even an original front end. its the IMPALA'S FRONT END. Not to mention they both share the same interior....what is this? And the impala dosent retain anything of the impala history....considering they got rid of the round til lamps. Why have some really beefy engines with something that are even worth having a beefy engine? these are chevy 2 longest running cars and they defile the designes like this?! Complete lazyness!!!

I think (and hope) that these are just hold-over models to last the Monte and Impy through untill they come out on the new RWD platform (I forget which Greek letter it is). IMO, the design (especially for the Impy) looks waaaaay to Ford Five Hundred. Not nearly agressive enough.

I think especially with the Impala, Chevy has reverted back to the 'follow the leader' type of business...where Ford comes out with the 500 and now Chevy comes out with the Impala just to steal a few sales...why can't they be the leaders of the class and innovate instead of follow...like what they do for the Corvette.

Now I'm not saying every car they have should have the sickest acceleration and what not, not at all. But GM is among the largest corporations in the world, I just get disgusted that Europre gets cooler cars than the US and in the mean time Toyota is edging it's way toward number one in a few years.

GM - Bring over some Holdens, Opels and Vauxhauls- give some respect to the Buick name, replace the Impala/Monte, and fire the accounts that say we can't afford to have expensive dash materials on our cars.

BLAH!

If they really want to do good with consumers the Monte should be RWD with AWD compatabilities and the Impala should be nothing but AWD (the ford 500 has an AWD option).

But you have to understand also that the Impala makes a great deal of it's sales in fleet sales (all NYC police cars are Impalas). Fleet sales are a very big reason why cars like the Crown Vic are still around.

Yeah, I think that's it. Thanks.

European cars have been a lot better than ours. That is not, however, due to the lack of ability by domestic automakers to make good cars, rather it is due to the state of the European car market. They are willing to pay an arm and a leg for great handling, quick, and refined cars. North Americans have a history of seeing cars merely as transportation (thanks to the damn '80's ) so that is what we got.

I am happy to see that this trend is starting to change though, as North American buyers are finally starting to expect higher-class offerings from automakers. I think the Cobalt is really an example of this change in perspective from the domestics.

i like the new impala....i wasn't a big fan of the old one. the front is disappointing, i think it needs to be less rounded cause the back is very square/boxish* (don't know what word i'm looking for, so i'll make one up)

i agree. the 06 impala and monte SS should def. be a rear wheel drive. as for the new designs, i like them. the impala isnt as boxy as the current ones. i dont understand one thing though...when the current impala came out, everyone complained about the design of the back of the car, and now since chevy gave it a new one, ppl are complaining that it isnt like the current ones. makes me so mad. i mean if u keep the same design for soo long, ur eventually going to loose sales!!! god!! anyway, no matter wat i think the impala SS and monte SS for 06 are alot better. front wheel or rear wheel, the 303hp V8 is wat metters to me lol haha.

i really dont like the 06 impala ........ i like my impala better (i have a 2002), in 2001 there was a impala ss made, by gm (not forsale) it had a LS1 ......... we got that car in 2004 with a 3.8 s/c , imo they should of kept the v8 in it... so yeah i'm kinda glad theres a v8 option in the 2006, they done something right anyway lol. heres the link for the 2001 impala ss
