2.0 vs 2.2 block engine
2.0 vs 2.2 block engine
Hey guys,
I know there is already a lot of post like this but I wasn't able to answer my question.
I have a 07 cobalt ss 2.0l s/c and my engine died, head is Ok, tranny is Ok, only the block engine is dead. I search everywhere to get one but cant find one except a full engine at 3000$ ... So my question is can I put a 2.2 engine block (with 2.2 interne assembly) with my 2.0l head and tranny? it would be more easy to find and cheaper!
Thx

2.2l cranks have 6 bolts for flywheel vs the lsj/lnf cranks that have 8 bolts, zzp does make a flywheel of hybrid builds but you're spending more

as mentioned, the crank is 6 bolt on the 2.2l vs 8 bolt, its also cast where the 2.0l is forged. the 2.2l has higher compression and cast pistons with the top ring very high up on the piston. boosting one can be done with care, but you cant push it that hard before you start having problems. the biggest issue putting a 2.2l in where a 2.0l was is the crank trigger wheel is different, so the 2.0l ecm wont run it.
find a 2.0l lsj from a cobalt or 04-07 ion redline. you can also use a saab b207 from an 03+ 9-3 turbo.
