so the intake, which is the only performance mod there, adds how much power? cause i mean damn, if you're putting down more than 171 with just an intake, i want to know where you got your tint!!

I'd go with a "RS" badge instead of SS... for all the above listed reasons.

that's awesome.

AFAIK there isn't anything yet on the market that will take a 2.2 to anywhere NEAR a 2.4. the 2.4SS is way underrated

i didnt mean to slam the 2.4 as much as it came off. i just think it should be named like rs or something. i know that its a package, but there should be a distinctive difference between the two. Yes i know that the ss/sc only come with the wing. I know of someone who was looking at a 2.4L ss at a local dealership, who when i talked to him thought it was an ss/sc, and i had to tell him the difference. I just think that it should be named something else

I would agree... I had an LS Cobalt.... was going to do the whole SS thing.... but then look around at all the cars we all laugh at... A mustang with the Nissan GTR badges... or those guys that really don't know what V-TECH is... and put them on there Cavaliers or whatever!!! It's the same thing... don't do it... make a sleeper.... it's better that way! C'mon it may not be a "REAL" SS but the Super Sport does have some pride behind it! Don't mess with that!

Ok, so here is what you do...

Go to Chevy, go the parts counter, order some SS badges, whatever you want, and stick them on wherever you want.

Not happy yet?

Ok, what exactly is it you want? Looks or performance? Either one is a respectable goal. I'm not gonna bash you over it at all. But what exactly is it you are so unhappy about? It sounds like the only thing you are ticked off about is that you didn't get the LE5 engine. So if I'm right about that, here is the question you have to ask yourself...Is it the engines power you are wanting now, or the SS looks?

I'm asking because you can VERY EASILY have either one, without crying like a baby about it!

What body kit do you want? The GM SS kit? An RK Sport kit? Something else? Fine, then GO BUY IT! That's all you have to do.

What kind of power do you want? 170 HP SS power? 200 HP SS/SC power? Fine, then DO IT! Your 2.2L L61 engine is the MOST SUPPORTED ENGINE of all three that are available right now. The only thing you can't do right away is forced induction. We are still in need of a computer for that, and nobody is making one yet (should be a few months). You can do intakes, head work, exhausts, nitrous, Whats the goal?

I have a 2005 loaded LS. I have the Pioneer speaker system, which is awesome. I have the sunroof, which is awesome, I have the heated leather seats, WHICH THE SS/SC CAN'T EVEN GET! Which are awesome. I have the MP3 Radio. I have the 1SB package with the 16" aluminum wheels and NO SPEED LIMITER FUEL CUT-OFF! What exactly is your freaking gripe!

you also have to remember the upgraded suspension, 5 lug, different front and rear bumpers, and 4 wheel disc brakes.... so its not just the 171hp

i don't mean as far as power numbers, i mean as far as a car. that little cobalt is quick, no two ways about it.

i just get tired of being overshadowed by SS/SCs

your wrong halfcent, he doesnt want looks or performance.

he just wants to be able to say he has an SS, he doesnt care if it had a 1.2 L V3. as long as it has SS on it he would be happy.lol

My point is, a base Cobalt has no where to go but UP! You can do anything to it! If you had an SS (either one), you usually have to take stuff off that you have paid big dealer dollars for before you can change anything.

You didn't pay that much for this car to begin with. Spend a little money and make it the car you want. If you are unwilling to do that, then you will never be happy with any car you get. There will always be something better. The "grass is always greener" argument.

Halfcent is right.

Our suspension is pretty useless. I'm going to be looking at lowering springs, new struts, a rear sway bar and poly control arm bushings. Already have the front strut bar. What exactly is that FE3 doing for me? Lightweight control arms, that's about it. Everything else will be changed out when I do my springs and struts. Useless.

We're the middle child. Performance parts are being developed for the 2.2L who need it more (no offence) and the 2.0L S/C who are the over acheiver of the family, while we're pretty much ignored. We get teh scraps. What do we get catered to us? That's right, nothing. Oh yeah, this 2.2L intake will work on the 2.4L. And so will this 2.0L catback. Frankenstein bitch. And we're probably going to be last in line for any sort of turbo kit or aftermarket F/I. Well **** me in the goat ass, this sucks. It ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Don't get me wrong, I love my car and I got plenty to do before a turbo kit is developed anyways and this is mostly beer talking, but yeah, eh?

No offense to any 2.4 SS owners i just think that it is a different car an that it should have its own different sub name to set it apart.

Dude you have hated your car since you found out it wasn't some one of a kind ls with options that weren't readily available. As I recall this is what your dealer told you. I love my ls with all the options you have (except leather). If you want to mod it, do it(what happened to the great turbo setup you were going to get to smoke the SSs. Don't do the badges it just looks like you're posing.

Stop being a ricer. Enjoy the car you have and stop wishing it was something it's not.
