alleycat it is 45. Tell her to go drive it, and tell you well that road is. And for everyone I will again apologize for being a better driver than you all.

If this winter is bad I will record it on video and show you all that it is not hard. All you have to do is make baby corrections, just as you would on dry or wet pavement, if you were driving fast.

So yes driving on all three road conditions IS THE SAME. Oh and I have driven on the worst road conditions, well maybe not the worst weather conditions. But when you all have driven on black ice covered up by about 2 or 3 inches of snow then tell me that regular ice is hard to drive on.

I am sorry that you all have to make fun of me because I am not scared when I get behind the wheel of my car and you all are. OH by the way 15 years of driving not ONE accident my fault or anothers fault. I have never been hit or hit anyone. SO I guess I might be a better driver than you all who have been driving for what, 1 year. Please have fun in school little boys.

I've driven 45 myself, I don't need her to tell me about it.

55mph on ice is assinine either way. Of course we can't argue with your "1337 driving skill" .

I drive on exposed black ice, covered black ice, sleet, rain, and pretty much anything else that gets thrown at me in the winter. Ice isn't necessarily difficult to drive on, unless you're cocky about it and go barrelling down the road at 55mph. Should you go 5mph? No. If there's a good snow base on top, you should be good to 35-40mph if not slightly more. On packed ice, ice with very little snow cover, or black ice then even 25mph can be pushing it. You're lucky that 45 is a) wider than most highways and b) despite your opinion, it's pretty straight with a gradual curve here and there.

And NO, driving on dry pavement and driving on ice are NOT remotely close to the same. Unless you mean driving on ice is exactly like driving on dry pavement when you lose your steering and brakes.

You all are the only ones making me sound cocky about driving on ice at those speeds. I am a defensive driver. I do not do anything I KNOW for a FACT that I cannot handle. It you all that are dumbfounded that there is someone out there that is actually better at driving than they are. I know it is hard to believe right.

45 is not PRETTY straight, especially at the MOPAC exit. There are two almost 90 degree curve right after each other.

I first learned about black ice in Germany when I hit it a t 20 and almost pulled a Uturn in the same lane. To this day I do not know how I recovered but I did. Its not being cocky when you know what your doing. And yes there are a lot of people, even on this site that are better drivers than me, but apparently not the ones in this thread.

I get better results with the stock Continentals in the snow and ice than I do rain. About a month after I got my Cobalt it snowed and the roads were covered in ice and I had no problems. I have a 2.2 LS as well.

I need alittle FWD practice in winter. I've always had RWD cars, and FWD scares me when I slide..I know they say fwd is better, but i disagree...id much rater slide constantly during my entire trip and control it with rwd than have the front end kick out on my randomly in fwd..
