2006 Cobalt Dates.
2006 Cobalt Dates.
"The '06 Cobalts (including the SS models) will start production in late
June. Dealers will earn all '06 Cobalt models based on their current
Cobalt sales. The Dealer Order Guide is expected to be available to the
dealers in Mid April."
In response to this question to Cobalt Launch Team:
"As of now, when do you expect production to start on the 2006 Cobalt SS
(2.4L) coupe and sedan? Also , with this date in mind, when would be the
earliest date these models should be in the dealers order guide (to
place a order)? What I need to know is , when should be the earliest
date that the dealer COULD place a order for one of these models?"

The Cavalier line was always one of the first to release the new model year. It's because that buyer typically buys during summer season to take back to school. Once school starts, sales of the Cavalier drops. I'm assuming the same to be true of the Cobalt.

Although my personal opinion is that it would be a bad idea to drop the base and make the LS crank windows and manual locks. That would "de-value" the LS line, which is power windows and locks on everything else.

well I don't see why they can't just make power locks and windows standard. Mine doesn't have them, but it would if they would have had a 5 speed on the lot with those options.
The way I see it, I have a ACR version of the Cobalt

Plus, they make great rental cars with crank windows and manual locks. Fleet vehicles have never accounted for much in the Chevy Car Line, so they're trying to increase their share in that market as well.
FYI The F-150, Silverado and the Camry were the best sellers in 2004 not because of their retail sales, but because of their commercial and fleet sales.
Wouldn't it be wild to see something like the Cobalt take over a big portion of that market share?

I manage a rental car company, and guess what car we have the most of? IMPALA'S! lol. We also stock malibu's, cavalier's, and now a few coboalts and aveo's.

I agree -- and not just because I own a 2005 LS sedan and don't want the "base model" stigma. :P I've always considered the LS to be one step above the base, although I believe Chevrolet SUV's have used the LS as the base model at one time or another. I wonder if making the LS the new "base model" might have an impact on the resale values of 2005 LS's?

I guess the bright side of that is hopefully the bugs will be worked out by then.
