Hey all,
I'm brand new to the site and I was wondering if I could get some feedback. I'm looking at getting a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC. It's black with a newly installed catback exhaust and cold air intake. Only 60,000 miles on it. The problem is that it has a rebuilt title (apparently the hood and driver side door had been punched in by an angry previous owner or something along those lines...). Both the hood and door were replaced and it looks great. WHat do you guys think? Only $9500 to get it. Thanks for the feedback

 

$9500 seems a little high for a rebuilt title if u ask me, personally u can find one without a rebuilt title for that much.....**** ive seen SS/TC's with rebuilt titles go for that much with alot less miles

 

yea i'd say if u can get down to around 7-8k u'd be good to go. just really look at stuff in the engine and take it for a good long test drive. never know what may have happened in the accident.

Well I tried to get him to bring it down a thousand and he wasn't budging. I didn't know the title was rebuilt until recently so I was pretty mad to find out he hadn't told me up front. I wish I could find one that has a clean title for that 9500, but I can't find anything.

 

There's a 2006 silver sedan SS/NA near me for $9000...

 

9500..thats a bit hight for a rebuiltTittle. i say you get them down to 7500-8k max. ive see here clean tittles with less miles for that amount, maybe a bit higher. GL

 

Tell him you're shopping around and you have one in a near by city that you're going to look at. Also go when it's really busy, (I'm assuming it's at a dealership) That way they just try to move cars quickly, you can usually make them bend. I talked a dealer down $2,500 because a check engine light was on. They also paid for the fix on the check engine light.

 

Oh and do some research on the car. Show him about the recall on the power steering. Look for any dings/dents, wear on the tires, ripped tint, complain about the clutch, etc.

 

Try eBay, autotrader, cars.com, etc. Don't be afraid to travel to find the car you want at the price you want. One tip is to know how long a dealership has been trying to sell the car and use it. Walk in and say, "so I see from the carfax that you have had this car on the lot for X amount of months, why is that? I'm willing to give you X amount right now (of course talking down the price)". Also, a good rule to remember is that dealers mark up the price 25%-45% so they can be talked down and still earn a profit.

 

hey guys thanks for all the tips!! I'm deciding to bail on this car (he won't bring the price down anymore and with the rebuilt title I just don't want to mess with it). I think I'll just keep searching and try to find a new one. I may be asking for help again in the near future. Thanks again! =)
