2008 T/c'salready Cheap?

So i have been looking around for a t/c and i have found 08's with a few hundred miles on them for 17,500-18,500! why are they already so cheap? they start out at 24k and go down 6+k in a year? wtf?

Any cars value depreciates after someone buys it. Thats what sucks about buying a new car, right when you buy it its not worth nearly as much as you bought it for especially the cobalt. So if you find a new one with a few hundered miles on it and it was titled out but lets say the person couldnt afford it they give it back and its then considered a used car.

'08s were 22,995 to start I believe, quite a few were had for less than that - and yup, that's depreciation not much to be said about it.

I got my SS/SC which was an 06 with 12K miles on it for 16,500 out the door. Given this was in 07. When I traded it in for my truck they wanted to only give me 13 for it about. The guy showed me the paper where they show what they go for at auction at that time, it was about 11 grand.

My truck will depreciate slower then a car will, which is true with all trucks esp diesels. It sucks but its how it goes. Hell you can get a Vette a few years old for half to a third the sticker price with low miles.

Yeah I was originally planning on waiting for a Solstice Coupe GXP or a new Camaro SS, but these prices are making me consider picking up an '08 Cobalt SS/TC. I don't think it's just Cobalts though. All cars that aren't a brand new popular body style are selling at a HUGE discount right now. The economy just sucks goat *****. But a car that can outperform ANYTHING under $30k and most cars under $50k for a payment of less than $300/mo? I don't think I can pass that up. The new GM kit just sweetens the deal.

So If I Could Convince A Dealer Ship To Give Me One For About 16500 You Think I Should Go For It? Honest Opnions?

Go for it. What's the worst that's going to happen, he'll laugh in your face at that ridiculous offer?

Remember how desperate dealers and used car lots are. I would go for less honestly. Someone is going to take your offer. You just might have to drive out of state or something.

My response was somewhat sarcastic, meaning go ahead and offer that.

Yeah this exactly why I wont buy a TC until they are really cheap. Give it another year and you'll be able to buy a used 08 for like 13

Yeah my plan is to buy a used SC in the spring but if the price of TC's is falling so quick I might wait till fall and maybe find a used one for 18k.

Is it a wind damaged one from ohio? There were a bunch that were written off by GM and are out there for sale . Only thing they lack is paint and corrosion warranty .

be careful
there could be a lot of reasons why an 09 has 300 miles on it and is for sale again...

GM's Red Tag sale has new 2009 SS's priced at $21,7. There has to be a concession for a used 2008. Don't forget you won't get the same interest rate on a used car. The economy is in the ******* big-time. Virtually all sports cars have taken a hit ; z06's, supra's, s2000's, M3's, etc. Shoot, it doesn't even stop at cars. The whole country is "on sale".

Any "steal" on a new car with the current economy is instantly negated by the equally sad state of the value of your current car. Basicly unless your car is paid for, it is a wash. It only "looks" good because you know what they were selling for BEFORE the economy adjusted.
