Is that realistic? What kind of mods would he

I don't know **** about LSJs but I've seen them past 300. It doesn't seem so unrealistic to me. Ask him for a dyno sheet.

 

WHaaa? Um I have a cobalt and I am putting down 292whp and 250wtq. Just takes a TVS. If someone went turbo then they would easily exceed 290whp.

Ask him if he is on the stock supercharger. If he says yes...then 99% chance is bullshit.

Around 270-280 is as good as it gets on the M62 without doing some internal engine work. TVS or a turbo is the way to go for 300+.

 

You guys are all assuming the seller is quoting whp. He could be at 250 whp and be claiming 294 at the crank, which is completely plausible. (250 / .85 = 294)

But see, there's a lot of misinformation. A M62 Cobalt can push over 300. It's been done before. And there are still some running around(off nitrous).

Instead of all this speculation, OP, post mods of said Cobalt.

its not hard to believe a M62 car making 294whp. the OP doesn't know much about the car, so who knows if it still has a M62, but if it does, it can still be making 290ish whp. people with 2.5-2.6" man pulleys, full bolt-ons, meth, and a good tune have made 285-290whp with out internal work. also, he could be using spray .... there are too many unknows to claim he is or isnt making 294hp.
